What's the diff between 03 and 04~05 Evo in US

Hi guys. I'm new as well to the forums and the EVO world. I just drove a friend's 05 Evo and I think I'm in love. I was really thinking about getting an S2k, but I think the idea of having 4 doors, AWD, and cargo room is a lot nicer. Unfortunately, I'll be done with college in about 4 weeks (couldn't finish in 3 yrs.. 3 yrs and summer school) and I want to find a new car. Of course the biggest college mistake is buying a new car straight out of college.. so I'll be saving up for a while.

So back to the topic. What's the diff between 03 and 04~05. I've been searching the forums and online and I can't find that much. I vaguely remember the EVOs in 03... my friend said it was cuz ppl here didn'tk now what an evo8 so they just called it evolution. I havent been able to get out to find a dealer with an 03 around my area (closest was 120 miles away) but I'm sure I jsut have to wait for them.

What do you guys think of the 03? How is it on the streets? When I drove the 05.. the turbo lag killed me. I have to say.. it was a bit boring on the streets... What do you guys think of the interior? And if I buy used... I wonder how worried I should be about the miles. I know that every EVO owner has probably pushed the car... so I don't know what I'm getting into with a used car. I'm sure Mitsu's warranty is good... 10 yr power train... but used it's 5 yrs. You guys think I should just wait a little and get it new? Or wait for the 9?

Thanks for the replies if I get any.

some of the year changes are in there.

About buying a used evo its a really tough market. Its hard to find an unmolested evo now a days. If you wait they will come though. Also will you really be using your warranty to your advantage because if you are going to mod some mods might void it. So best advice is to save up and buy a new evo if you cant then be patient and find a nice used one. The 03-04 evos i believe have a little bit less of a turbo lag due to the 10.5 hotside in the 05's. You can always change that later though by modding and making turbo lag less of an issue.

oh sweet. thanks. btw, if I do go looking for a used EVO, what should I look for? What are the clear signs that the car has been pushed besides the normal test drive, check for any leaks, paint chips (to see if he has gone off roading), etc
