What I've Learned from EVOM.net
I've been a reader of this forum for over a year now, a member for a few months and I've just started posting.
Concern of being flamed has caused my delay in posting questions, but through dilligence (and a bit of intellegence), a newbie CAN find most everything they need to start understanding, modding and tuning the 4g63. So.......a few things I've learned.......... 1. ALWAYS SEARCH FIRST 2. BOV's are not power modds 3. Piping is hard to mess up, so go with megan....it's the cheapest 4. Go with ZEUS to order if you go with megan 5. Don't get an intake without a tune 6. A flash is the easiest way to tune 7. SAFC is the way to go if you want to learn how to tune and be able to adjust for environmental situations 8. Listen to D. Buschur for how to get power....he seems honest in his love for the evo and the engine, not just as a business adventure. 9. Listen to WARRTALON on how to drag race......his tone is harsh but information is sound and tested 10. NEWBIES GET NO RESPECT (hehehehe) Anyway.....these have just been my observations on this forum. Everyone as there own opinion and every post is subject to conversation and contradiction. Please, let me know if you feel otherwise. |
Better change buschar to Buschur before he sees it. He has a thing for his name being misspelled.

all the rest seem pretty good 5) Do not get an aftermarket intake without a tune! 9) PM me for drag racing assistance. If you disagree, burningmoron, please provide alternative suggestions. Simply disagreeing accomplishes nothing. Anyway, wonderful list you compiled sqkhog. If newbies would read this before spending their hard-earned money, they would all be much happier, plus there would be many less Evos out there with more show than go... |
#9 wow!! I can't believe I am even going to go there. A 1.92 and 1.75 60ft times with unbelievable times are not what I would call a drag king. There are alot of good drives out there some humble, so on cloud 9 and those who are full of bs. I need to be done now, I think it is great his car is a total ringer. I could be wrong but 12.2 with exhaust and safc is....

i dunno about personal differences but thats def somethin that should be put as link numero uno in the FAQ section or newbie page.

You missed a few very important things:
11. No car will ever equal an Evo in any playing field, and if it does, it will still be trash talked because Evo is mispelled Ego 12. People on EvoM will always be *******s, most of them are Americans 13. Never display any sense of individuality it will almost always be , gay, stupid, ricey, or any other term you can think of 14. 50% of the people who talk the talk can walk the walk, 50% just talks the talk but can't even crawl (half of EvoM knows their ****, half is just incredibly opinionated and some people switch around, and yes... me included) 15. Newbies always get respect, if you talk to the right people (and you don't need to search, just find one of those right people and ask them)... and ask ALL of your questions in 1 thread instead of 20 16. The only thing better than an Evo 8 is an Evo 9. 17. If you get beat by something on the street in an illegal street race, you definitly have something wrong with your car and/or driving 18. Eliminating the boost taper should be everyone's number 1 priority 19. The Evo will NOT pick up girls, but it will beat cars on a track that do pick up girls with a little effort 20. Street Racing stories will get you drawn and quartered, don't post them, because at least the mods know that street racing proves absolutly nothing except who can be the biggest dumbass. Half of these are sarcastic, half are true, most of that half are also funny... if you can't tell which are which, spend more time looking around and talking to people. If you really care about what a bunch of people on a website think, then I suppose most of mine can be ignored except for the last one. But if you care what people on websites think, then you're probably driving the wrong car, listening to the wrong music, dating the wrong person, and eating the wrong foods. Tough it up, have an opinion of your own, and **** the control freaks. |
About #12...99% of north americans came from somewhere else and most of them came here to get the h3ll out of where they came from.

The 12.22 with a 1.75 60' is on the stock clutch with the stock clutch restrictor and stock, rubber clutch line. That is quite good, and I had several 1.71s and 1.72s along the way. Drag racing ability and knowledge is not defined simply by 60' times on the stock clutch. There's the ability to tune yourself to good power/response at the track and the ability to launch AND shift well. I can do all 3, but beyond that, I can help people understand/analyze/improve their results based off their timeslips, which is helpful as well. |
