WRX owner soon to be EVO owner
For the last 4 years I have owned my wrx and been on an amazing journey with 0 bumps in the road and it has gone from stock to everything you can do short of a built motor. I have sunk more money into this car then I should have ever had, but thats life with a crazy addiction for boost. I have gotten to the point that I have become bored with the car and decided its time to come to the dark side of AWD and experience the amazing evolution. I am in the process of still selling my WRX and will have to wait until the sale happens before I can purchase the evo but still I figured I would make this thread and say hello and learn as much as I can before I buy the car. If anyone has anything they would like to warn me about or just say about the evo just speak up, Im not here to start an evo vs sti/wrx argument, both are amazing cars with their own ups and downs and its as simple as that.
So anyways hello to all and thanks for any input!:) oh and heres a list of mods for any one who cares, pics will be up later, gotta wash it first. 05 WRX Modlist: Engine: EJ205 - Stock Internals Forced Performance HTA-GREEN EWG 2.4" inlet/TD06 8cm Hotside w/ SS Braided Oil Feed Line Perrin Stealth FMIC Perrin Blow Thru Boost Tube Perrin Lightened Crank Pulley Perrin Short Ram Intake Perrin Coolant Overflow Bottle Perrin Oil Catch Can Deatchwerks 1000CC Topfeed Injectors Agency Power Top Feed Fuel Rails Walbro 255LPH Tial 38MM External Wastegate w/ Custom Dump tube Tial "Q" BOV Gimmick Motorsports Turbo Inlet Grimmspeed P&P&C Headers and High Flow Crosspipe Grimmspeed P&P&C TGV Deletes Grimmspeed MAF Block Off Plate Helix V3 2.3" External Wastegate Uppipe Helix V3 3" Catless Downpipe HKS Hi-Power Catback Exhaust Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator Weapon R Hybrid Oil Catch Can/Windshield Washer Fluid Tank Crucial Racing 160* Thermostat Crucial Racing 1.4 Bar Radiator Cap Samco Silicone Radiator Hoses Thermotec Exhaust Heat Wrap Drive Train: Straight Cut Gears 1-4 Synchro Engagement w/ Stock 5th Kartboy 5spd Short Shifter ACT 6 Puck Sprung Hub Clutch W/ ACT Streetlite Flywheel Electronics: Cobb Ver.2 Accessport AEM TRU Boost Electronic Boost Controller AEM UEGO Wideband O2 Grimmspeed 3 Port EBCS Suspension/Rims/Tires: Megan Racing Track Series Coilovers Rota Torque 17X9 +30 Bronze 5X100 Yokohama S-Drives 245/40/17 Deevos Aluminum Lugs - Red Brakes: StopTech Street Performance Brake Pads F&R StopTech SS Braided Brake Lines Motul RBF600 Brake Fluid Exterior/Interior Seibon OEM Carbon Fiber Hood Rally Armor UR Flaps Cobb Shift Knob All Weather Floor Mats Rear Valances |

Welcome to Evom and to the dark side. Sooner or later, you'll scoop up a legit Evo.
Now alot of the evos are high mileage, i guess take your time and find the one that has low miles and hopefully it works out for you then. And godluck selling the WRX. Hope you get that sold quick. |
And one more thing, do you like tecate? Its pretty nasty to me lmao. Welcome by the way.
|
hey thanks to all for the input, the name tecate came from when I was working at a beer distributership, kinda a long story, I dont care for it much either. list of mods coming up soon.
|
Nice mod list! So i am assuming you were doing 300+whp and 300+torque?
|
oh yeah. getting tuned on august 4th, hoping to put down close to 400 to the wheels.
|
^^ Nice nice!
Seems like a good build for you so far. :) But now you're getting rid of it to come to us, hahaha! :D |
yup, have always been curious about the evo, just recently sold on the idea of it. wish I would have made the change a long time ago.

Here's one thing to warn you about... The upper intercooler hose that connects to the intake manifold may blow off under high pressure. It's a pretty easy fix but it'll scare the daylights out of you the first time it happens lol. Most people just use t-bolt clamps to solve the problem. The reason I bring it up is because it just happened to me today for the second time. Perhaps WRXs have a similar problem so you might already be aware but I just thought I'd share in case you weren't. It might save you a heart attack! lol

welcome.
i switched to the other darks side and bought a WRX after my DSM broke on my for the last time. i sold my WRX about two years ago and switch back to the even darker side of mitsu ownership. the evo is in another league compared to the WRX, very happy with my decision. and there is nothing wrong with tecate, did you guys try putting a pinch of salt in it? but modelo especial is my go to anyways.

mine flew off at autoX while my codriver was behind the wheel. he about **** himself, thought he blew it up. i was in the passenger seat laughing my ass off. i did lose my hose clamp on course which brought the day to a halt.
