Evo Viii and IX Differences?

Hey All,

As some of you know, I am not sure if waiting 3-4 more months to get the IX is worth it... Therefore, i am starting to consider a mint condition STOCK Viii. I am wondering what the differences are between the two? I searched, but i keep getting this error message so maybe someone could please help me out?

Thanks,

TJ

If I were you, I'd wait the 3-4 months. I think its worth it, except you'd have to pay the sales tax if you do have to pay it.

I traded a 05 8 MR for the 9MR.The differences are Interior is much nicer on the 9.The 9 also has the Mivec,Bigger turbo, better head design, more advanced ecu, better fuel pump and a few other things that I probably missed. The 9's are making better power with less mods when tuned also.I don't regret trading up.Many 8 owners are jelous of the 9 and I was 1 of them.Hope this helped.

Take Care

SilverMR pretty much summed it up. He's right about all those enhancements except the turbo isn't really bigger - it's the same turbo with a larger compressor housing. Yeah, it IS bigger housing on one side, and yes it does make more power, but it's not really a "bigger" turbo. Just a technicality.

I am an VIII owner and am very jealous of how fast the IXs are with so few mods. They truly are amazing.

Btw, why do you have to save up to get a car? It doesn't require any cash in hand to buy a car - just finance it like normal for 5 years. If you have some saved up, you can use it as a down payment, but that's not necessary either.

Maybe he doesn't have enough to start making million dollar payments yet.

when i first bought mine i asked same thing to another evo owner....they said

for the V/// you would need this much $$$$$$$$$$ to get this much ##########hp

With bolt ons that seems to be the case...once you get into turbo swapping its a grey area.

More testing is needed before any differences in turbo spool-up time can be considered with the mivec. Check out some of the tuner forums for case studies and you will find more info.

The problem is im only 17... And don't hate, im paying for all of it and I will take care of it and not race it on the street, only the track . And yes, i paid for my current car, 2002 VW Passat GLX. I could sell it, and have a down payment of about 18k... (including 3k in my checking account)... But, I don't have a consistent job. I park cars for Perfect Valet whenever I am called to do so, but it's not really consistent... which sucks, but the pay is great for my age (10/hour + tips). Would you suggest that I sell the passat, put a down payment on a new IX (in WW prolly), and pay it off as I go? It would be under my dad's name since im not 18 though...

Thanks for all the replies, they mean a lot
