You won't get near as good gas mileage as the 33+mpg A4, but the Evo is worth it for being the better performance car in all aspects. It simply will crush the A4 and don't just look at the straight-line acceleration, but its dominance in being the greater driver's car.

I get 8.75-17MPG - all city, WOT as much as possible, revving high. Buying an Evo with fuel economy in mind is an exercise in frustration. If MPG is important to you, an Evo is the wrong car.
FWIW, I ran a modded, supposed +300whp A4 when my IX was completely stock. It wasn't even a contest. Have you driven a sorted, well-maintained IX?

I'd say 250miles on a full tank is about average for the evo...if not even maybe less...I've seen 300miles and I've seen 200 after driving pretty hard....but honestly if your really worried about MPG then stick with the A4.

Stock I usually averaged 17 mpg in the suburbs, and I live right in your area. I saw a black 06 mr for sale on street road. Is that the car you were looking at? Since my flash I have only filed up once, and broke 20 MPG for the first time ever, but most of that tank was spent driving to IVEYtune on the NJ turnpike. I am hoping my mileage has improved slightly, but if I wanted better mileage I wouldn't have such a lead foot. But if I didn't drive fast I wouldn't have bought an evo.

Just returned from a six and a half hour road trip. Filled up before departure, drove 366.7 miles before my fuel light went on. Then drove another 32 miles before I fueled up. So approx. 400 miles total. I went 68 mph the whole way with the A/C on. With the fuel tank being 14.5 gal., I averaged 27.5 mpg. I figure that is pretty darn good. My buddy laughed at the fact that I only went 68 mph on the freeway. But hey, who says owning an Evo means WOT 100% of the time
