Do you have to push it all the way in? :)
Do you have to push it all the way in? :)
Possible super-n00b post here but...
With my old RSX-S, I didn't have to press the clutch as far as with the Evo. When I test drove an MR recently, it's like it has 2 ft of travel.
My question is, do you have to press the clutch all the way down before shifting? Or can you just press it like half way? If I press it half way, the vehicle does come out of gear, so is that only as far as I have to push it?
Don't get it twisted, I'm not a little girl without the leg strength to push it all the way down, but the sales guy said most people don't push it all the way. Just wondering if he's full of it

If it has a TON of play off the floor, the pedal needs adjusted. You definitely want at least a couple inches of play off the floor before the clutch starts grabbing, and a little bit of free play at the top so there is no pressure on the clutch.
In before a "that's what she said" joke.

You don't have to put the clutch to the floor to properly shift. Like the previous posters said, wherever the clutch engages/disengages is really as far as you need to go, though there isn't really much harm in pressing it further, which sometimes I'll do if I'm downshifting into second, as for whatever reason it helps the shift be smoother the way I drive.
My roommate has an '05 RSX Type-S, and you have to clutch in slightly farther with that car... but its shifter is so much smoother than ours... but I think I can deal with slightly rougher shifting for all of the additional benefits
