Are those parts and tuner really good?

I'm not trying to overstate the obvious and I'm sure this thought has crossed many people's minds.

1. Think first, do your research. No tuner sets up shop in a ratted out hole puts up a sign and says "I am a horrible tuner, I have blown up 3 cars this week alone"

Every tuner thinks they are the best. This same statement applies to parts manufactures as well. Everyone that makes an exhaust think theirs is the best.

Do your homework when it comes to modding, buying parts, and tuning.

Keep in mind there is one true 100% constant in the universe. You always get what you pay for.

2. The Internet is the most wonderful thing. It allows someone to post absolutely anything they want. There is no bearing or need for truth. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying everyone lies. Just bear in mind this is not a court nor do people that post have a car battery hooked to them that will shock them if they do fib or exaggerate.

3. This is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt. Most reputable places or people will have a website, a real shop, liability insurance, take credit cards, be reachable on a phone, and stand behind their products and services. Most good business are members of the BBB (Better Business Bureau)

Please note I'm not naming names nor is this an attack on any shop or tuner. Just some friendly, general advice for new people and even for long time Evo owners.

Sorry, I just have watched three people buy and or think about getting a mixed mash of parts, tune, without thinking...just jumping in the deep end. I must admit I made some bad choices along the way and it cost me more than if I been more informed and listened to good advice. Unfortunately sometimes it's the only way we learn and grow.

Good post, hopefully it helps at least a few people stop and think. I'm going to move this to EvoM newb/FAQ and sticky.

Is there a post that tracks Tuners and their feedback? I heard Cobb is good, 4WS is good, but I don't know how many other "brands" are out there, and I have not seen a comprehensive post where everyone tallies the tuning "brand" and the person/shop that did the tune.

When I bought my IX it came tuned by DynoFlash Al... A retune was my top priority at that point, that's all I'm going to say about that...
