MR SST or GSR 5 speed?
Hello fellow enthusiasts,
I'm in the market for either the MR SST or GSR. Which is the better option? Looking to both track and use as a daily driver. Any particular year of EVO X that are better than others?
Many thanks for your help.
Cheers

I have a GSR and maybe im a little biased... but I like the GSR better because its a bit more reliable then the MR SST imo. But I also just enjoy being connected to the car. I know for sure the MR SST on the track will be a tad quicker because of the less wasted time shifting! But then there is also a heat issue that needs to be dealt with when you have the MR SST on track...

2011 MR here, 45K miles, no mods, no issues at all.
If you are in traffic a dual clutch is WAY better and basically you get what you pay for and the reason a MR was what 8K more than a GSR?
Mods, that may be another story but you should be able to add 50HP without any issues. On track it is up to the driver and your setup, although all things being equal the dual clutch in race or sport mode is always going to win.

If you are daily driving on long highways or heavy traffic a couple days a week, I would go with the MR. The stick can get old if you are spending a lot of time in stop and go. Also, the GSR has to rev to 4k in 5th to hit 80mph, so its quite noisy inside and MPG isnt the greatest.
However, the MR is also significantly more expensive, harder to mod/maintain, and heavier.

Wouldn't it be better, since you can stay out of boost (well not as much boost) longer? I milk the **** outa it with that 6th gear.
I got a picture of a 25.1, with a steel roof no weight reduction whatsoever, and it was higher prior to installing the APR GTC-300 (wing brought it down hard). Though don't get it twisted, it's entirely on how you drive, that's actually going speed limit (55-60). Anything higher and mpg's takes a **** for me. Like back down to 17-22.
