Evo crash
Hello,
Newbie here to the forums.
Basically I was in an accident and the front end of my car is wrecked. Air bag deployed. Wouldn't turn start at first.
I want to know if it is possible to salvage this car (I really love it.) Or is it a gone for good? How much would something like this cost?

Hey welcome & sorry about the accident
Surely, you will have the insurance company estimate the damages? Hard to tell all that maybe involved. Almost looks like it spun backwards pulling the front end apart?
What happened?
Do you have any other photos showing the damage?
Joe

EDIT: Thanks for the very swift response.
I am waiting for insurance to get back to me. I am fairly certain it is a write off.
Long story short, the AWD control turns off sometimes (pump failing causes it to be off sometimes.) The pump was getting replaced in a few days.
I was going up a winding hill about something came in from of me and i turned very sharp into the curve, when i countersteered out of i started skidding and all 4 tires were spinning and my car went into a spin, regained traction when i was facing a median my car slammed into it front first.
I didn't take any other pictures but its all front end damage. Drive train and engine should be okay.

Yeah, after going through that though I completely trust the evo to handle an impact. And although I am usually pretty good with all the maintenance, I learned my lesson about critical components.
Do you know of anyone on here that has experience with rebuilds?

That would be ideal. I need to go back and check it out to make sure there is no real mechanical damage. There aren't a lot of Evo's on market and i am pretty attached to this white one.

What many members have done is start a build thread here:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/pr...d-threads-344/
You could certainly start one, w/more detailed photos, and those here on EvOM that have that level of experience would chime in & offer up their opinions.
If the unibody is way out of spec, there may be no way to properly repair it

fix it. it would have to be hit by a train and folded like a taco for me to scrap it. have a reputable shop straighten the subframe if its bent. then just go to town with the insurance money for the rest.
it doesnt look like the windshield is broke in that pic so i think its fairly straight still, definitely a fix it build i would think.

I like your answer because I am fairly attached to the vehicle.
The windshield is not affected.
I will take some more pictures when they call me in.
Do you have any experience or tips on rebuilding?

my tips would be do it yourself. or if you can not, look at some of the shops other work before taking your baby in to them. also do NOT take it to one shop and tell them to do all the work. the body shop might do some suspension work, but thats not what they do.
also you might need a beeter car while you are getting that one fixed if it was your Daily Driver. it might be a long process to get it right.

When you say it might take some times, how long do you expect the process to take? I just want to use stock parts. Though since I am rebuilding anyways I may do a black hood and nicer lights.
I have access to other vehicles, we have 6 cars to 5 drivers at my household.

with the coming holiday season and dealing with insurance you are probably 6 months out from driving that car again. it will be a long frustrating ride, but when you sit in in after it is running and drive it and grin from ear to ear you will remember why you did it.

Alright I will keep that in mind.
Any tips on getting the value this car deserves? I am certain insurance will try to low ball me.
Edit: 2010 GSR w/ 80000 km (Canadian)
Handling package with rims.
