Your generalization holds true when given the same turbo with the same compressor side, the same octane number, the same ambient temps, the same intercooler at the same boost level, and etc. Your broad statement holds water if all variables are held constant on the same turbo.

However, everything is relative. All else being equal, the same turbocharger reconfigured with a larger compressor wheel should produce lower compressor discharge temperatures than the same turbo fitted with a smaller compressor wheel.

Thus, an FP Black which shares the same backside as an FP Red turbo, should produce lower compressor discharge temps than the Red due to its larger compressor wheel. So, in general, within the same specific class of turbos, the larger comp wheels are colder blowing than the smaller comp wheels.

true there is a better compressor wheel on the black but they are both goverened by the small hotside which I believe is the limiting factor on pump gas. With e85 or race gas etc...you can overcome that heat and keep going easily of course.

What boost level would be safe to run on 93 with fp black 28psi? Also what about the addition of meth?
Thanks

with our tunes on the FP Black we usually end up in the 25psi area on 93 octane. The turbo is efficient there and works well in the summer heat to make around 430awhp with good supporting mods. with Meth you could run up to 30psi and get closer to the 500awhp range. We would work the tune in a way that it keeps the tq to a safe level for the rods at that boost level.

I'll post up my numbers on march 18. I'll finally be tuned by AMS fp black meth tune and e85 with bolt ons and stock block.
