ETS 3" intercooler review

I was so excited when I recieved my ETS 3" front mount. It was so shiny and nice and I wanted it on ASAP. I immediately got to work on the install and everything was moving along fine but I had a sneaky suspicion that my Buschur LICP wouldn't work with this IC just by looking at the intecooler and the pipe off the car. Sure enough when I was ready to put the LICP back on it wasn't going to fit up properly. I called Tom from ETS and he explained that Buschurs pipe didn't work because of the design. Totally my fault I should have investigated. Tom was very helpful and told me that many have had this problem so I didn't feel too stupid for not doing the proper research. I refused to install the stock lower pipe and was determined to get it to work. I ended up cutting the buschur pipe and using an extra silicone coupling and sure enough it worked out great. The IC itself was very nice and well crafted. The welds were perfect and fitment was great. Immediately I felt a difference in the car but I need a re-tune to really be able to get the most out of it. Overall ETS is great I will definately buy from you guys again.

If anyone has the buschur LICP and wants to know how I modified it then just PM me

Thanks for the review! If you wouldn't mind posting a thread with pictures in here on how you modified their LICP, we will keep a good discount for your next order in mind I'm sure there will be customers in the future up against the same problem and we'd really like to have a documented solution to offer rather than having to require more money be spent on a new LICP!

We build our LICP to fit both stock and all stock replacement intercoolers so as to avoid this issue, but since not everyone starts with our LICP, another solution would be great!

Tom

It should since the Nisei LICP works with all FMIC's that fit the stock pipes.

Yes it will, you just reuse the stock coupler or the replacement coupler they provide (if they provide one, not sure) since their inlet/outlet are downward facing. If you ever do switch to an ETS intercooler you'll be able to use the straight 2.5" couplers that come with our IC to make the connections, as the ends butt right up to all stock or stock replacement piping on both sides.

Is the 3in core big enough for a 50 trim turbo kit +meth? Probably wont ever run more than high 400whp range...

The 3" core is good to ~500whp (and I've personally run it to 600whp) so it shouldn't have a problem cooling the charge even from a 50 trim at full tilt
