61mm: A Tuner's Perspective
Recently we recieved Silversicknlow's (Monty) 03 with the ETS 61mm kit on it for a MAFT Pro install and retune. I have tuned one other version of this kit for kenvidanger, and basically I think that as far as a pumpgas setup goes this kit definitely gives bang for the buck.
The 61mm is more or less the same size as a 35R, so it has similar spool characteristics, makes about the same power, and offers a good value for the buyer. Both kits made 430+whp at 24-25psi and both were using something other than the stock airmeter. Kevin is using the MAFTranslator in blowthrough mode and made 436whp at 24.5psi shortly after the last dyno day that we did. It will be at the dyno day on the 19-20th and on 114 race gas so we'll get an idea of what that makes it capable of as well.
Monty's car made 435whp at the same boost level with MAFT Pro in speed density mode. It seems very consistent and repeatable power at these levels. Monty's car is the only one that has cams (kevin has a IX with stockers) and they are small by todays standards, "just" HKS272's. I am sure that with either S2 or Cossie's in Monty's car it would be able to break 470 at the same boost level. Kevin's car will definitely wake up with cams, and again I am thinking that S2 or Cossie M3's will be alot more exciting. I am starting this thread as an initial Impression thread since there is still some power left in both of them on pump, and of course race gas as well.
In other news, I had a chance to retune the infamous 57 trim kit that has been passed around and I do not see it like it has been commented on. It has minor surge but its not bad and only if you try rolling into it from high gear and not when you are "on it". It is a stock cam VIII on E85 that I am doing for a friend (silvernslow) that will be at the dyno day as well. More on that one in the days to come.

The 61mm on either E85 or pump meth will absolutely rail. The 58 trim that we just got done tuning for ETS Tom on E85 loved boost. 29psi no problems and the car really starts to move above 25.
The 57 trim really liked 30 psi last night, and even after turning it back down to something a little more practical (25) its making more than enough power to keep someone happy for at least 4 days
