GSC S1 w/ hta 35r

How does the HTA 35r do with the GSC S1 cams? I was thinking about the hta30r but i was don't see why i shouldn't go with the 35r instead. Does anyone have any dyno charts so i can see the curve?

I have GSC S1 cams on my 9. I know you are looking for an 8, but I am really not impressed w/ these cams. I made 306whp and 297wtq on a Mustang Dyno w/ 91 and stock cams and 308 and 298 with the cams. And the "curve" wasn't really any better either. I would suggest a more aggressive cam unless you don't want to swap the cams and just want to upgrade to a bigger turbo. I'm sure it would make some pretty good power!

I have the S1's already. I am looking to build a great street car. I honestly love these cams and others have agreed they are better than the HKS 272's, I just want to know if i should go with a 30r or go with the 35r. I don't plan on upgrading the cams anytime soon. My next purchase is an X i think.

Turbo depends on use. If it will be mostly a street car, I would say 30r. It's capable of well over 400whp on race gas and spools really well. I used to have one for a while. If you are planning to do a good bit of racing (drag or road course) the 35r might be better with that extra top end even though the lag will be a few hundred rpm more.

unless you plan on running race gas all the time on the street it wont be easy to be over 400 all the time. a 35r on pump with some supporting mods should keep you over the 400 mark easy. a 35r with 25psi on the street should have you around 430 with a conservative tune. a good friend of mine is running the precision 61mm which is the equal to a 35r and loves it. with 280's he made 428 on 93 octane and 23 pounds of boost. i say 35r all the way.

by the way if your also up in the air about the cams go with the s2's. if you looked at ams's cam test next to the kelfords the s2's were great for power and drivability.

I thought you typically don't see much gains with "stage 1" cams on a IX. IX's are already more agreesive than VIII's.

If you already have the cams and don't plan to replace them, then making the most of them makes the most sense to me!

There are two popular variations on the 30R for the EVO. The 3071R has a 53mm compressor wheel, similar to the 54mm "50-trim" that is a very popular pump gas turbo at 20-25psi. The 3076R is a 57mm compressor and lends itself well to 24-30psi.

A 35R is not the best choice for overall powerband on pump gas because boost levels typically cannot safely be raised enough to take full advantage of its compressor efficiency that really starts at ~26psi+. You will get a bigger peak number with a larger turbo like a 35R even on lower boost, but the overall area under the curve will be less, and you may find yourself being smoked by smaller turbo cars with broader powerbands

If you will be elevating the boost level past 25psi with methanol/water/alcohol injection, ethanol or race fuel then the larger options make reasonable sense and at that point it's up to you as to the trade off between spool and top end.

So true and that's why I stuck with a 30r. If you are planning on running straight pump gas get a 30r you won't be disappointed at all.

they are a great combo, i would personally prefer a set of s2's over s1's but that is just me! You will be happy with that set up!

I think I am going with the "red" now. It seems to be exactly what I want.

i would recommend the s1's only if your running a stock turbo. running any larger turbo, you will have better results with more aggressive cams.
