wtf: on the new evo line up

I see all the 05' are ready to order, but I thought only the MR came w/ the hp upgrade, it turns out the rs and the VIII have the same hp #'s. Why then does everyone want to trade in thier VIII's, if you want the six speed buy it new for 4,700 and keep your car. A downpipe and exhaust can get you better numbers than the neww MR> Sorry I love my RS and will be changing out the tranny though, but f#@% trade in the whole car, no way!

I didn't know that everyone with an EVO wanted to trade it in for a MR?????? The last I checked the polls here is that most aren't willing to trade. I bet many that voted that they would trade does not even own an EVO. They are probably just voting yes because they think if they had an EVO, they will trade. But in reality, maybe if they really had an EVO and really paid for it, they would think otherwise.

When he said everyone, I think he meant everyone who will be trading in, not those that don't want to trade. Make sense? Good.

Lets see
Front LSD (U already have). Bilistiens, BBS wheels, Active Center differential, Larger diameter turbo with revised boost controls, Aluminum roof, larger oil cooler, thicker head gaskets, revised cooling passageway, and of course 6-speed. True that it comes at a large price but if you have the money and love evo's why not

Forgot to mention aluminum door beams

here is the address for the new evos, and I should not say everyone but do hear alot of people talking about the MR and how much better of an evo it is, only a tenth of a second quicker OH YEAH! Its so much faster lol. as to the suspension love the sporty feel of the 8 and rs now the rims on the other hand are soooo sexy.

No question it is a pretty steep price, but I just drove one and then drove an 04 GSR. The ride difference alone is worth a lot. The six speed is really nice too. RPM's stay right in the sweet spot and freeway driving is much more relaxed. They did all that and still made it quicker. Yeah you could do it yourself but given the chance to have a factory built car vs an RS modified to keep up( that will probably never ride as nice) it doesn't seem like such a bad deal. Bottom line is it comes down to personal choice and how much $$ you can afford to spend.

I'll take my '04 RS and keep the extra cash to go modding.

I thought the whole reason for the MR was to campare with the other evos as the sti compares with a standard wrx, And I have mine for the sports car feel with the room for my kids, If I wanted a suttle ride I would have bought an acura tl or an audi quattro

Don't get me wrong, it does NOT ride like a Lexus. But a lot of the impact harshness has been taken out. The new suspension just does a better job of keeping the from rebounding over every pebble on the road. Like I said though, even with the added comfort it still corners better than the 04's. Not a bad deal by any stretch.

Not at all. The standard VIII 03-05 are a match for the STi 04-05. The MR is just another performance option above and beyond. I think an 05 VIII make a lot of sense for the money.

If I had a VIII '03 I would not trade in either. People have to remember tha an Evo VIII is such a good car that any improvements from here on out will be expensive.

My car is already faster the the MR - that's my myself and others will not trade up. Hell, with $100 in upgrades you can have more power than the MR if that's your worry.
BBS rims - not liking them myself. 6-speed - more of a marketing gimic for other companies, I won't miss it. The current 5-speed is rock solid.

BUT - If I was buying an 05 model, would I consider the MR - hell yes. But, it's quite a price jump. Then again, how much in mods have I invested in my 03....Ouch!

Yes ..If I could sell my car and get everydime back that I put in it. I might consider the trade b/c I always want the bigger and better whether its a few extra features that might really mean nothing at the end but its there!
