The dealership is still going to take its hold back money, and the manufacturer is not going to lose money selling the car. Sales people will get there cut too. (You can count on that.) Let's not forget about how much money they make on the trade-ins...Raise your hand if you think MSRP is a fair?
MSRP is always fair. Remember dealers basicly make their money 4 ways:
1. Trade in 2. off the new car 3. Financing interest 4. Kickbacks for selling extended warranty, gap insurance etc.
Your market value will also depend on where you live. In hawaii, hondas have rediculously high resale value, evo's are also high since there is only one dealer on oahu, and 2 in the state. If you move to hawaii from mainland, it's worth it to ship it here and sell here, youll make the money for shipping and more.

People pay MSRP if there is no way to get a discount on a vehicle because there is a truly limited supply. People are selling below MSRP because people are learning that the $2,100 in profit plus the $600 or $700 in hold back for the dealer and employees is more than enough. MSRP is a price tag for a very anxious buyer. A patient buyer will wait to negotiate a decent deal. Not to mention, while you floating on dreams of driving the new car, they stick you on your trade. Trade-ins are where the dealer is making a lot of profit too. If you can get a great trade and pay MSRP than that's OK, but pay sticker and get shafted on the trade too - now that sucks. How many people trading in got the blue book on their cars? I would guess none. So you'll pay retail to buy and take wholesale as you sell? Those are choices people make that don't make sense to me...
