Great article...both the SCC and Edmunds. I still don't like the BBS rims on the MR (look OK but imagine cleaning them) or the new Enkeis on the RS/GSR. The new Enkeis just don't fo it for me. That's such a minor criticism though. Everything else looks like it has truly "evolved"...no pun intended.

I think it looks great with the white RS with DarK MR wing and smoke evo lights.

Definately. Those black BBS rims would look good on a white GSR or RS. They just seem like such a nightmare to clean. Plus I think it's a little poseur-ish to put MR rims on an RS or GSR.

BTW...I'm thinking of having mine painted black with a chrome lip.

the BBS wheels are one of the distinguishing factors of the MR (externally) it would be classic rice to put them on an Evo (if you add the MR badge, even moreso). Personally I think there's nothing wrong with putting the BBS wheels on the standard or RS, but I like the new Enkeis look on the IX. I think the old Enkeis were awesome on the VIII, but I think the new Enkeis fit the IX

The BBS rims specified as OE on the MR are lighter and stronger than the OE Enkeis and mounting them on any Evo is a performance upgrade (reduced unsprung weight and less rotational mass), no rice about it.

Anyone notice that the inside of the spoiler uprights are not carbon fiber on the Edmunds and SCC test car?

Not the optional Gurney Flap, I am talking about the uprights that the wing is mounted on. The inside panel used to be carbon fiber, now they are body-colored. No big deal, just another little detail change for the IX.

Good find...I would not have noticed (the differences in the wing) if you didn't point it out.

Nope, that's how our lights look too. The fluting of the reflector makes it look like that.

The Evo IX does look like it's going to be a nice step. I just hope that you can get tose new non-full-leather seats along with the zenons and sunroof. If you want the sunroof and zenons right now you have to take the leather interior, which is unfortunate as I like the cloth in my '03 better. I'm thinking that maybe they're just upgrading the seat trim in the normal cars and doing away with the leather option altogether.

According to the released specs.....no, you can't. For the standard IX ("GSR") you need to purchase the SSL package to get the sunroof and xenons and this still comes with the full leather Recaros.

Looks like Afterburners. Well, I still prefer the VII.
