Autoweek: Evo IX Some Stopgap

I caught this today. Sounds like they enjoy the 9'er.

Clicky

I'm not into heavy modding since my Evo is my daily driver so I would consider a 9. It'll be the last 4G63, and of the more upright body style judging by the rumors regarding the X. The IX might be a heck of a classic, the best of this breed.

Did you notice the claim of 300lb-ft at 3000rpm? Is that for the JDM model?

Yup, that's for the JDM model (and that's the one they tested).

Peak torque for USDM occurs at 3500 RPM and is slightly than 300 lb/ft (can't remember the exact figure off-hand).....

any one know if USDM EvoIX's get the MgTi turbine? Because that's a major draw for me as well as the interior.

That's an interesting question that I had as well -

... and I would say this, (I'm sure I'm not the only one that noticed)- there are enough conflicting reports going around popular magazines to convince me that we just have to F'n wait and see what we actually get.

But closer to release date we'll get better reports.
