I agree, AutoXer, performance is the key with me as well. However, it is possible to build a really ugly "performance car". Look at the Dodge Caliber, which is supposed share the same chassis with the new Lancer. I sure hope they don't beat the Lancer with the same ugly stick!
IX values are going to hold nicely if this is the new Lancer.
Rear deck height is way too high, the traditional Evo wing wont look good at all at this level and they will be hard pressed to make the Evo aggressive looking with that shape and lack of angles on the car. Probably good for Lancer sales, not for Evo's usual aggressive looks.
The platform takes the already high stance of the IX and goes one step further. This is borderline pickup truck ride height and stance!

the caliber is imo the ugliest car to come out within the past 5 years. i've sat in one, driven one, and was shocked at how i disliked it so much
i can't imagine mitsu could do worse than dodge in the aesthetics department. new lancer looks nice. hate the headlights in this photoshopped pic though

bad , bad idea !! This may be one of those plans which looks better on paper ! lets all remember where the EVO comes from ( breed = rally car ) and look where it may be going - not the best idea !!!

platforms are about location of various things ( like door handles), and the car's layout (front mounted engine, forward wheel drive....) and safety structure....

chrysler has come out with a whole bunch of UGLY cars, they drive like crap too.
thats pretty pathetic in 21st century, add to that the fact that diamler is a the same company. then again, i think that mercedes is a ****ty car too.
i pray that the new evo has NOTHING to do with these piles of poop

The only real picture is that night shot of the blue lancer, and it actually looks pretty damn good. Looks like Mitsubishi stuck with a lot of the Concept X design, which i think is awesome.
I can't wait till January when they show the production Lancers and production ready Evo X in Detriot.
