How long will the IX be available?
How long will the IX be available?
Hey guys, I'm new.
My name's Kyle, I'm 21 and am a senior in mechanical engineering at penn state. Seems like there are a good bit of engineers on this board after reading a thread on aerodynamics. I'm a Honda guy and member of HAN, TI, and HT
Just recently have become extremely interested in evos over the last couple months. I've been reading a decent bit on this board since.
So, with that, it's nice to meet you all
Anyway, i'm looking into purchasing an evo IX for my daily driver in about 6-12 months or so from now. I wanted to know what you guys think of the possibility of there still being some new IX's at the dealerships by then. I've been reading about what little is known about the X too, but I wanted to get a platform that already has been modified so many times seeing as how Im new to boost. (integra is NA, don't laugh lol)
So tell me what you think, and other suggestions are also welcome. Thanks

The IX is going to be revised for 2007. Heard that it's going to be much better, and the handling will rip Ferrari's cars up. Evo engineers are extracting every last bit of power and handling capabilities out of the IX for the last time before the drastic change in the body all the way down to the engine for the X.

To answer your question - they will last at the dealers until they are sold out. Ya, sucks but thats the truth.

wow, thats awesome. I hope I'm as lucky. Does anyone think its worth spending the few extra grand to find a new IX over a IX that has some miles on it? I mean this in the sense that you never know what young car noob might have owned it.
Thanks for the replies so far
honestly i wouldnt buy a used evo unless it had less than 5000 miles and the car lot sold/traded it back in and knew the previous owner... it wont be that hard to find a VERY SLIGHTLY used one.. just dont wait to long, dont want them to sell out!!!
that wont happen, but buy one anyways.. be financially sound first though, i almost regret paying on this thing in college...

Your selection will be extremely limited, if their are some availible, I imagine them being test drive vehicles, etc
Your best bet is too look for a 100% stock never modified low mile IX instead

if only a few, then i would get it new.
many, might as well buy used and the extra cash could be put toward the mods
when I was looking all the low mile ixs seemed almost as much as new so I just went new. Used MRs I saw were still more than a new RS. If one or two things need replacement like a clutch and a set of tires that few thousand will dissapear quick. Also if you finance the rates are usully better a new one too.
