Why did they stop shipping the IX to the US when the rest of the world gets a 07 Evo IX model?

Australian Spec 2007 Evo IX

that's still considered a 2006 special edition model. they stopped production on the SE already. We don't get crap for 2007 unlike the rest of the world.

The reason Im sure has to do with side impact and other safety standards. Remember, the Cedia (the car the VII, VIII, & IX are based off of) was introduced in 1999 in Japn, accordingly it was designed to less stringent crash standards. New impact standards in the US is also why there is no 07 GTO (well that and slow sales).

Evo's dont go by the years ne ways. an EVO IX is an EVO IX. I like the middle console though. Dont care about the radio but I wouldnt mind having the updated temp controls.

The guys above are right in that the 07' models will not come to the US due to the rule that takes effect in January, stating all cars sold in the US as 07' models must come equiped with side impact air bags as standard.

I heard the other day,, NO evos in the USA for 2007. And most if not all evo IX's on dealers lot are sold.

Next model will be the Evo X in 2008, and model year 2008.

Is this correct?

The temp controls are not updated. Those have been in JDM, Aussie, and Euro spec Evos since the VII's. There all automatic and they are very badass.

Here in California we have dealers like south coast mitsu who have a TON of inventory in stock. My friend is strongly considering trading the STi for the Evo 9.

The less Evo 9's out there is a good thing in my opinion. It keeps the resale value up!
