Why are Japanese companies so secret about engine specs?
Does anybody know Japanese culture better than I, because this waiting for engine specs from japanese automakers is killing me. Come on Mitsubishi what is up, how much power is the X going to make? How much power will the GTR be making Nissan, come on! I give domestic companies some respect, because they give you pretty much all the details way early, no need to speculate. Sorry I just had to b*tch. I am hoping the EVO X will be rated at 320HP or higher, my best guess is 325HP and 330TQ, could be wrong though, but that is my guess. But I would be pretty disappointed if Mitsubishi made us wait so long and the power is like 300HP, I think I will be keeping my IX (which I am trying to pay off soon).
It is an ASIAN thing man...we so ninja it is not even funny.
It is the thing will any other company...look at the new Camaro...nothing has been officially released about the spec. I was at an auto show and the guy gave two different engine size that might be sitting underneath the hood of the Camaro..."Let's just say it will make a nice rumble."

I've been thinking about that too. Maybe Mitsu is waiting for Subaru to release specs of the new STI. I remember when Mitsu brought over the VIII and rated it at what 271 or 273HP (something like that) and then Subaru tried to one up them with 300HP STI (which was BS
).
).
American vehicles get released with specs right away cause they keep using the same freakin motor.. Just keep tweaking it some everytime.. So it's easy for them to do it.. There's 600 american cars out there that they just use the same engine for..
GM=5.7 or 6.0
Ford=4.6 or 5.4
Blah blah blah...
There's a little bit more to the Jap engines since there's so much technology involved in them. That's just my .02

2 good reasons:
A. Because they're not done tuning it - Let's say they decide that the car is too noisy or doesn't make a nice enough sound and they change the exhaust system.
or
B. Because Subaru will 1-up them again. Both companies are capable of building MUCH more powerful engines, but they don't want to leap too far ahead of the other company or they'll both be trying to build 1000hp economy cars in 4 years.
300hp is just sexier than 286 regardless of which is better or faster.
