X transmission.

Ok, I've tried searching for the last two hours, and I'm sorry because I'm sure it's already been answered, but will the new evo be available in a Standard? I'm reading all this info on the SST transmission and paddle shifters, and all I really wanna know is if there'll be a true 5/6 speed? I'm sure the SST is better, I'm sure it adds certain things, but to me it's just not what I'm looking for. I want to be in control of as many things as possible and I think that when you look at the car as a whole the paddle shifters take away from the car. It's supposed to be a driver's car? Maybe it's just my opinion.

Yes, it will be available in "true 5/6 speed" standard.

They haven't said yet. The latest reports have been saying 6 speed again.

I'm just hoping it will be W5M51 based because that will possibly open up more gear ratios that we can use

its 5 speed for the new evo..

5 variants with top of the line GSR-SST 6 speed

base model RS weighs in at an elephantine 1420kg 5 speed manual
Intermediate GT manual version is a colossal 1520kg 5 speed manual
SST version is the king of kongs at 1540kg.. which is only 20kg heavier ..

Almost as much as a Legnum VR-4 then Lets just hope they make up for the extra weight with more power and better handling.

What's the source for the weight numbers?

Well, as always, I'll wait until it's made fact. I'm still going to hold out hope for a 6-speed. As for the weights, if true, that puts the RS *UNDER* the weight of the IX MR, and the GT manual at ~3344lbs which is very close to my guess at 3350!

Does this "source" of yours say where the 100Kg difference is between the RS and GT?

I doubt the GPS system/amp/speakers weigh more than 50lbs.

Cruise control on a DBW car with ABS is just a couple switches and some ECU programming.

AC might weigh about 20-30lbs. The older system shaved just under 30lbs when removed.

Maybe there's more weight reduction in the RS than the GT? I may get an RS, but I'll want to trade front bumpers with someone who has the GT.

I hope these numbers are right. Though even if they are it won't matter. That 3500lb number is going to be spouted from every Evo X hater and numbwit until the end of time.

But we'll see. Here's hoping those numbers are real.

the RS might have a lighter roof and thinner panels or less carpets or something.

isn't the GSR gonna have aluminum roof and hood/trunk already? i'd really like to know where they lost those 100kg from. the interior has got to be basically stripped of all amenities like AC and radio, power nothing, etc. the car has got to be a real race prep type car. i always thought the IX RS was not really a race prep car instead it was like a entry level/base car. i mean it has AC standard. how race ready is that?

I'm guessing that the main weight saver between the GSR and the RS is the fact that the RS is basically an Evo gone wingless along with maybe af ew other things stripped out.

Curious. Is the SST auto tranny going to be available only on the most expensive model or is it going to be offered across the board with all the models?

Thanks for the input,

Scott
