EvoX NA Release Date

I know that a lot of us expected the EvoX to be released in January of 2008, however, I went to the major Mitsubishi Dealership in my area tonight, and they said that last week they had a representative from their large factory in Iowa came down for whatever reason....and he guaranteed that the official release date has been moved to the end of March, and the dealerships won't be getting them until then.

Also, it won't be considered to be 2008, it'll be a 2009...they're also doing the same thing with the Mitsubishi Outlander...skipping the 2008 and going straight to 2009, even though they will both be released in the first quarter of 2008....

So just a little fyi I figured I would fill you all in on...

Could a strategic move on MMNA's part. Let the competition come out with their final specs and sweep them away with better numbers.

Seems likely. Especially given the price increase rumors. If want to raise the MSRP by $4k for the X as is rumored, they may be concerned that Subaru will seriously undercut them on price. If they push back release till March, they force Subaru to set the terms since they seem to have a more firm release date. A definite advantage to have over your only real competitor for this type of car.

1. Mitsubishi doesn't have a factory in Iowa. It's in Normal, IL, so that right there is a dead giveaway that this dealership source doesn't have their facts straight.
2. My 2008 Outlanders are already U.S. bound with VON/VIN on report. Internal report first page as my evidence:

3. I have no idea why a representative from a domestic based Mitsubishi factory here in the U.S. would have any data as to the shipping schedules of Mitsubishi factories half-way around the globe.

4. Tell your dealership source not to dabble in things above his pay grade. It confuses people here on the interweb.

Why do people believe what dealers tell them? In my experience, dealers seem to know very little about their own products.

I keep hearing Janurary. I don't think it will benifit Mitsubishi much if they wait for the sti to be released.
