So I realize the first Evo's aren't expected to hit U.S. Dealers until Januaryish and that each dealer might only get 1 or 2 and they have no idea what options/colors/etc they are getting.
But with only 2 1/2 months to go, and the fact these puppies are already being sold in Japan... you'd think we could at least get a solid spec sheet with U.S. numbers and options with $$$ figures.
I am really really worried by the fact the MR only comes with SST.
I want a 5 spd manual (i don't care how awesome SST is and I would cry if the tranny ever had to be fixed or worked on because SST is so new it will cost an arm and a leg).
I want the blue one, with brembo vented breaks, the 30gb navigation, hopefully a sunroof, and the 650watt rockford fosgate stereo with the sub in the back. I also want the new AWD system they are putting in.
It just seems Mitsubishi and it's dealers have no information to share and with a pretty competative car market you'd think they'd want to inform us as soon as possible.
People like myself who NEED a car soon or who need one NOW are probably getting pretty PO'd.
The other day instead of drooling over EVO X pics I found myself on Infiniti's website checking out their 2008 G35 AWD... It's very similar to the EVO and it looks like it will be similarly priced. Is it AS fast or agile as the evo? Probably not but it's damn near close AND the interior/options are crazy awesome on infiniti's
Not to mention us younger guys who just want a fast cool car that can be a daily driver are tempted by a lot of other things that are WAY cheaper. Like a Ford Mustang GT California special with every option looks to be around $35-36kish. 0-60 times close to the EVO, handling will suck but it looks badass muscle car and sounds a lot cooler (sorry i love turbo whine and modded exhausts but there is just something about a big throated V8 you cannot deny).
So right now i'm still holding out for the EVO, but i'm wondering is there anyone else out there that is frustrated? It seemed the car got a lot of news, was on a ton of magazine covers, gets launched in japan and then all the sudden.... SILENCE.... no more info...no more concrete details.... just a bunch of rumor'd prices and crappy *** backwards options that leave me wondering if I can even get the EVO I've been waiting for with the options I want. Even though i'm trying to be first in line with CASH in hand and calling mistu dealers weekly for updates.

Then don't get the MR.
they're not "putting it in", it's essential to EVERY evo.The other day instead of drooling over EVO X pics I found myself on Infiniti's website checking out their 2008 G35 AWD... THE CAR IS NOT RELEASED FOR THE UNITED STATES MARKET YET. Patience is a virtue. 6 months from now it won't matter that you were "first in line". Nobody will care. Not even you.

2008 Infinity G35 only comes in automatic if you want the AWD. 6-speed manual is only RWD.
1. You could try to find a slightly used BMW 335Xi with a 6 speed manual. They are twin turbo AWD.
2. Or you could buy an AUDI A4 2.0turbo Quattro AWD sedan. They are in the same price range as the evo.
Although i don't like the build quality on German cars, especially Audi. But if you want a genuine race bred car, then you'll have to wait for the EVO. You could also hold out for the new SAAB Turbo X, which is a 2.7L turbo with AWD. Very limited though.

we have the same problem, I am waiting for the Lexus IS-F and the person who we bought the first lexus from have no info whatsoever(just like the evo) but they are going to release the Neimann Marcus edition of IS-F which is black-(I want that!) this december, but they will not be getting any until March 1, 2008.
Here's some info.
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution At-A-Glance
October 17, 2007 -- Cypress, Calif. -- While remaining true to the core values that have made the Lancer Evolution synonymous with thrilling performance, the next-generation 2008 model offers all-around capability and user technology that distinguish the world's best performance models.
The 2008 Lancer Evolution showcases new performance and handling technology, including an all-new 295-hp (est.) 2.0-liter turbocharged and intercooled engine and the Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) dynamic handling system. S-AWC regulates drive torque at each wheel by controlling a network of dynamic handling technologies, including: Active Center Differential (ACD) 4-wheel drive, Active Yaw Control (AYC) rear differential, Active Stability Control (ASC), and Sport ABS brakes. Integration of ASC is new for all markets. A helical gear-type limited-slip front differential is used.
The 2008 Lancer Evolution is powered by a 2.0-liter intercooled-turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC inline 4-cylinder based on a reinforced cast-aluminum cylinder block. Unlike the 4G63 engine used in the previous Lancer Evolution, the new 4B11 engine does not use a balancer shaft, made possible by the new engine's inherently lower noise and vibration and use of hydraulic engine mounts.
The new engine employs a direct-acting valvetrain in place of the previous roller rocker arm configuration for reduced weight. A timing chain replaces the belt, and MIVEC variable valve timing is used on both the intake and exhaust camshafts (the 4G63 had MIVEC on the intake only). The rear-located (firewall side) stainless steel exhaust manifold helps improve weight distribution.
A shark-nosed front end inspired by jet fighter air intakes, a distinct wedge-like profile and crisp, taut lines highlight the basic design. The new Lancer Evolution looks the part of a street-wise sports machine with its unique front end, aggressively sloping hood with integral air scoop and engine heat outlets, boxed fenders and 18-inch wheels.
Two Lancer Evolution models will be offered in the U.S. for 2008: the GSR with a new 5-speed manual transmission and the Lancer Evolution MR with a new 6-speed Twin-Clutch Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST), an automated manual transmission with magnesium steering wheel shifter paddles and a console shifter. The MR is also equipped exclusively with Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs, two-piece brake rotors, BBS forged-alloy wheels, HID headlamps and Bluetooth wireless capability.
A longer wheelbase and wider track form the foundation for better handling and stability in the 2008 Lancer Evolution.
The basic all-new Lancer platform – already stiffer than the previous-generation Lancer Evolution IX – is further reinforced for the 2008 Lancer Evolution. The roof, hood, front fenders and both the front and rear bumper beams are aluminum. The battery and windshield washer fluid tank are mounted in the trunk area for better weight distribution.
The Lancer Evolution features its own suspension system, including inverted struts in front and a rear multi-link configuration. Forged aluminum components reduce unsprung weight. The 18 x 8.5-inch wheels (Enkei cast-alloy on GSR and BBS forged-alloy on MR) carry 245/40R18 Yokohama ADVAN asymmetrical performance tires, a change from the 17 x 8-inch wheels with 235/45R17 directional tires used on the previous model.
The 2008 Lancer Evolution is now a markedly better car for everyday driving. The suspension is tuned to provide a more compliant and stable ride than before without compromising handling performance. Inside, the Lancer Evolution shows a new international flair. The new Recaro seats integrate new side airbags. Available user technology, including Rockford Fosgate® audio and navigation systems, reflects the tastes of a broadening customer base. Standard safety features include an advanced dual front air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) with occupant sensors, standard front seat-mounted side-impact air bags and side curtain air bags, plus a driver's knee air bag.

sblvro - completely agree, I was actually looking at the lexus ISF as well. Only problem is that it seems to be more in the 50k range, but definitely a nice car.
Guys don't get me wrong (i know this board is a little flame happy). I understand the car hasn't been U.S. released yet. I'm just saying there was a bunch of info and hype, then all the sudden NOTHING. I'm also surprised that I have found out more surfing the internet or calling mistu corporate than I have from any of the dealers. Not only do they not have any info, they seem reluctant to try and educate themselves on the new Evo. If I worked as a saleman there I would be on this site and in close contact with corporate on when it was coming and when I might know the options. I would also take prospective buyers over to see the stock Lancers (some of them have recaro seats in them) and let them take a look to get an 'idea' of what the Evo will be like (at least looks wise).
Maybe my local mitsu dealers in Detroit just suck because everyone here is buying chrysler/ford/gm and they figure they aren't going to sell a lot of these. I think these are the perfect car for michigan. AWD for winter, fast off the line for beating up ont he muscle cars, etc.
I didn't post the other options of cars to get flamed. QQ don't want an evo go buy something else.
I was merely commenting that mitsu could secure some sales from those of us itching to get a new vehicle if they simply provided us some details of what is coming and perhaps let us pre-order.
I understand not getting an MR, and I probably won't. But my problem is that I heard they were possibly not going to give the better tire options/brembo/nav/stereo options on the GSR, which would be pretty stupid in my opinion and prevent me from getting the Evo "I want"

Because they don't want to do what mazda did. When mazda launched the RX8, my brother bought one. They said it had like 250+hp or something like that. 2 years later, because of a class action lawsuit, they issued a recall which allowed owners free oil changes for life, or $500 back. Something like that, i forget the details. Either way, i forget what my brother did.
Basically what happened was, they tuned it and it had over 250hp. They put that on the specs sheet. Then due to emmissions and EPA fuel mileage regulations and mazda wanting to rush RX8's to anxious customers. They put on the best tune they could come up with with the time given. It was a crappy tune, but it met federal requirements. It had some hesitations and bumps in it, but it was driveable. Problem was, the HP rating also dropped quite a bit since the tune runs a little rich.
Mazda has since fixed the RX8 tunes, but it took them like 3 years after it came out to do so.
Moral of the story, Mitsu is playing it smart and safe by adding in there "est". That legally covers themselves incase they have to detune it more to meet U.S. emissions and fuel mileage penalty regulations.
Frustration is the key word here.
I am frustrated that the GSR got no option of the better brakes on MR.
I am also frustrated that there is no serious review from any major auto mags.
The GSR was released when, two weeks ago?
There are other frustrations. I'll leave that for another occasion.

I'm frustrated by lack of information on the Ralliart. The employees I talked to denied it's existence, while an Evo guy I know that works at a dealer in York, PA confirmed it being turbo, possibly AWD, and due around May. Also said the '09 Lancer would be 2.4-liter and 160hp.

I'm really not sure what the op is wanting to know. The X has been reviewed by almost every major magazine out there. C&D, Motortrend, TopGear, some UK mags, etc. What is it that you want to know? Mitsu dealerships don't know enough about their cars in general to give you an informed account on the X. Enough information has been released already for you to make an informed decision on the X. Of course no more information has been released because the information has already been released.
