There's no '09 because there is a rather large backlog of unsold 2008 still available. Dealers are practically giving them away at $27-28k/pop. Why build more low-volume, small market, niche cars if you couldn't sell out the previous year's supply?

Speaking from personal experience, this is a good philosophy.

I survived a very serious health condition a few years back, and once the medical bills were covered (even good health insurance doesn't cover everything), the reward to myself is the IX MR sitting in the driveway.

Point being, you never know, and yes, things actually can happen to you. Better to get as much as you can out of life...

yeah 2010 won be an IX it will still be an X.. makes no sense to make 1-2 years production model and then change it..i dont tihnk you'll see an IX till 11-12

i highly doubt you'll see Mitsu pull out of the US. its a possibility but if anything i think you'll see them cut down on the lineup hence why you see they already did away with the raider. i think if they do away with the outlander and basically just keep the Evo,Lancer,Lancer Ralliart,Eclipse possibly the galant since it sells decently and mitsu would be fine.

They currently are sitting on way too much inventory to keep building cars. This is a common practice and doesn't indicate either way if they intend to keep selling future evo models in the US. Just relax, no one knows. But... there is absolutely no indication that the X will be the last evo sold in the states, or that they will stop selling them.

Also, to the people who spoke to their dealers and the dealers told them that the X will be the last evo here, GET A GRIP. They are saying that so you buy one now. Come on, never eat up anything a salesman tells you.

Given the change in platforms, an Evo XI is much more likely to have subtle changes like there were from the VIII to the IX, instead of radical changes that would make it worth it to wait.

If you can afford it now, get it! As another person wrote here, life is way too uncertain and certainly too short.

its a lot better to regret what you have done, than something you wish you did. i work at a dealer, and haven't heard anything about the XI, havent even seen a X on our lot yet. We have 3 IX's that have been here for about a year. i get to stare across the service lane every day at a BEAUTIFUL blue IX every day. Just bought an 04 last month that came in at our other lot used and am COMPLETELY happy with it, altho i would love to have that blue IX sitting next to it in the driveway as my daily, lol.
get the X. have fun with the X. if something bigger and better does come out, sell it or trade it in on the next thing you want.

I think its too early for us to even think about it, i mean there are many evo x already running tens's, lol...oh wait such little time that they have been out and there already running tens...DAMN. Just get a X we are barely breaking the tip of the iceberg. Plus its going to be at least 3 years before another one comes.

I forgot where I read it, but it was a translated google search page. It said something about new 2011 model year upgrades for the evo. I can't confirm this cause I cannot find the link now and the translation wasn't exactly the best as some of it was hard to understand.

If it's one thing dealers have proven, that they have NO IDEA what is going on. Even when released the Evo X virtually every dealership I talked to didn't even have any idea it was released. From what I've found over the years is we hear it here WAY before the dealers do.

Also... Japan has made a 2009: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/14/m...panese-lineup/

All they have to do is make a few tweeks and release the 2008s as 2010s. Not difficult. I'd say it's more likely they will do that than not.

VERY TRUE. working for a dealer, i read stuff here then have to wait till my rep comes in and ask him. the reps know all the fun stuff, but that usually doesnt trickle down

I read some where canny remember where it was a while back they released the 08 to late they didn't want to have a five month production line then get the 09 be like the rest plus I think it to scares us that they are not selling any more so they trick us in to buying the 08 for regular price a year later. Then they come out with the 10 just like nothing happin and they will have there production line like nothing happin

LoL. And you believe what what dealers tell you? Dealerships wish they knew as much information as you can find on these forums. Trust me, I've worked at several car dealerships in the past. They get their information as it is released to the press. Very rarely do they know anything that isn't known by the general enthusiasts. Every now and then, a rep(who actually knows something) might visit the dealership and spill the beans, but again, by then it is already leaked on the internet.

Almost every single time, if you go to a dealership asking about future models or future changes, they will deny or lie about it. Obviously, they want you to buy what they have. There's a saying in every dealership and most of the sales industry, "Sell what ya got".

They already brought the new chassis here and amped up the lancer line up on it. I think they'd have to hit the **** bad to pull it out.

and for f sake don't believe the salesman at the stealership. They are in marketing and they just so happen to sell something in the automotive field. Most could give a crap less about cars, they just can't deal real estate so they sell cars.
