2011 changes announced from Mitsu
there's a thread around here somewhere that basically says not worth the cost, it's integrated into the sound system so it would involve swapping stereos in addition to whatever parts are needed for FUSE.. so, if I recall, yes it can be done, but it is not as simple as plugging in FUSE
Bigger as in = The little spoiler that comes with my car (RA) will no longer be in the GSR. Instead, it will come with the MR-sized (SSS) one... Which is funny, cause that's the way it should've been from day one... but Mitsu is so effing dumb it doesn't even make sense >_>
But not everyone wanted the big wing. Mitsubishi was trying to broaden the appeal of the Evo X beyond what the VIII and IX typically had. Almost every review written by anyone over the age of 30 had them praising the car for what it was but with some concerns about the wing, whether because it blocked some of the rearward vision or because it was just a little too childish for their tastes. You could say the lip spoiler on the MR Touring and SE solved that problem, but perhaps that wasn't planned from the beginning.
1 - Evo + Big Wing = Evo GSR
2 - Evo + Lip + Leather = Evo GSR SE
3 - Evo + Big Wing + Twin-Clutch = Evo MR
4 - Evo + Lip + All that Luxury BS + Twin-Clutch = Evo MR Touring
is that really that hard to achieve?
why the hell do they need 3 damn models with the same freaking tranny? Then we go back to where it all began = Whoever is in his 30s and only buys manuals is, once again, going to dimiss the Evo, because the only manual Evo is the GSR with the big wing... there's no 5spd Evo with a dam Lip to keep the non-boy-racers happy
Mitsu still needs to flush their damn management....
you're right, your statement makes sense, BUT, when I said Mitsu is just too effing dumb I'm also right... look they just came out with another model for the Evo, and out of 4 Models now available, only one has a true 5speed manual, the other 3 have a TC-SST... I mean, really? talk about overkill... how about they try their math once again and see if the product gets close to something like this:
1 - Evo + Big Wing = Evo GSR
2 - Evo + Lip + Leather = Evo GSR SE
3 - Evo + Big Wing + Twin-Clutch = Evo MR
4 - Evo + Lip + All that Luxury BS + Twin-Clutch = Evo MR Touring

About the models, I get what you're saying... one 5-speed manual model (two, if you count the SSS) against now three models with the 6-speed dual clutch. However, if you consider the actual production numbers, I would still assume that it's still strongly in favor of the GSR over the other models combined. They're probably offering the TC-SST in more models to increase its production while lowering its production costs per unit (which was probably part of why the Lancer Ralliart got it), which is a good thing.
Oh, and by the way, the Evo X SE doesn't have leather, and according to the press release, all MRs will get the lip spoiler.
But perhaps that potential Evo buyer over 30 might also want flappy paddles, whether it's because they're lazy/getting old or because they want to go faster. Besides, the argument for the "purity" of a manual gearbox is losing its relevance in AWD cars, especially with this much gadgetry (even if you compare the 5-speed IX to the 5-speed X), so I'd assume those guys would be more about something with RWD anyway if they wanted something more "pure."

I'm gonna disagree with you guys. I'm in my 30's and hate the lip spoiler. I've always associated an evo with the large spoiler, and a sports car with 5sp manual transmission. The 2011 evo gsr having spoiler and 5mt is the perfect combination for me... even though I'm old.
So then what Mitsubishi offers (or will offer) works out for you then.
I didn't mean to say that NO ONE in their 30s wants the big spoiler, I'm just saying that was something that SOME people in that demographic didn't want, which was in response to one of the posters asking why the Lancer wing was offered at all.

No, I wouldn't say it's that, and join date rarely has anything to do with one's knowledge. (There are a lot of idiots who have been around since day one, while there are some very intelligent, articulate posters who joined very recently.) My comment was just acknowledging that Mitsubishi is offering a configuration that is what you want, despite going against the grain (relative to the more general perception of the Evo from the 30s and up crowd). Not that there's anything wrong with it, but you happened to be one of the potential buyers in your demographic who prefers the big wing and 5-speed manual, which is great.
but the 2011 does sound like a nice car.
