been there, done that. had an EVO IX MR, sold it for an EVO X SE, HUGE mistake. traded the EVO X SE in on a BMW 335i, then picked up a used EVO IX MR a couple months after that. I should have just kept my first EVO IX MR, and picked the 335i up in addition to it.

never again will I let my EVO IX MR go.

Well, I guess I could say I wanted a WW GSR SE. (SE doesn't come in white)

The color was the only thing I would change.

I've got an 2011 gsr....if I wouldn't give mine up but if I had a chance to own two it would be either VI t. Makinen or the VI extreme s. So sexy and more hp than newer models.

I own an 06 IX SE, I would downgrade to a V because it has always been my favorite iteration of the car. The V I believe also did the best in WRC. If anyone please correct me if I am wrong.

there's no such thing as a GSR SE. The IX SE is just that. IX SE, unless you got the MR, then it's a IX MR SE. There is no USDM GSR until the EVO X. In the EVO X there is the GSR, SE, and MR, but no GSR SE there either. Oh, and the X SE does come in WW.

Ironically, there's no such thing as the MR SE, either. The MR was never offered with a SE option; it was offered with an Appearance Package that is referred to as SE on the forums.

FWIW, I would have preferred a red car, but chose GG, as the SE was not available in red.

btw, there is definitely a IX MR SE. it was listed as an MR SE on the sticker when i bought it.

i trade between my wife's X SE and my IX RS regularly. if only all the "hardcore" would try out an SST equipped car and vice versa because both cars are fantastic. the trim differences within the same generation make virtually no difference, it's only until you get in both the CT9A and the CZ4A that you know they're both freaking awesome.

i'm currently in a X GSR but also had a X SE for a while.

I would keep my X GSR for sure. If I had to give it up it would only be for a WW iX with JDM rear bumper.

In fact as soon as I pay of my X I plan on picking up a iX.

Then, you are the only one in the USDM who had this written on the sticker. Should have keep the car; it was a collector's item. Every other MR with red stitching on the seats, the shiny BBS', and the lip sold in the US was stickered with an Appearance Package for $500. The SE package was an option on the non-MR IX. If you search the noob forum you'll find the official press release I'm forced to post every time someone comes along with this nonsense.

Awe, hell, I'll do it for you:

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is applying the "Special Edition"; treatment to its critically acclaimed ninth-generation Lancer Evolution. The 2006 Lancer Evolution SE offers special features at a competitive price of $33,249 MSRP to make this legendary performance vehicle even more thrilling. The new SE trim level represents the final enhancement to a Lancer Evolution body style that has been on sale in the U.S. market since 2003.

Inside the Special Edition trim level, supportive, red-stitched RECARO(R) seats accentuate the interior while the exterior receives a new front airdam extension that adds style while reducing front end lift. A lightweight aluminum roof panel, also found on the Lancer Evolution RS and MR, helps control body roll by lowering the vehicle's center of gravity. The feather weight 17"; forged BBS(R) alloy wheels, now in a new "Diamond Black"; finish, add style while reducing unsprung weight to improve suspension performance. The SE trim level also includes high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights with halogen fog lamps giving the vehicle a distinctive look. The available exterior color choices for the Lancer Evolution SE are Apex Silver, Graphite Gray and Tarmac Black.

True to the Lancer Evolution's heritage, the SE is powered by a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder DOHC intercooled-turbocharged engine with Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing and Electronic Control (MIVEC) that is mated to a rugged 5-speed transmission.

The revised airdam, Recaro(R) seats with red stitching, and forged BBS(R) wheels with "Diamond Black"; finish are available on the MR trim level as well in the form of an Appearance Package which sells for $500.00.

Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing, research and development operations of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in the United States. Mitsubishi Motors sells coupes, convertibles, sedans and sport utility vehicles through a network of approximately 540 dealers. For more information, contact the Mitsubishi Motors News Bureau at (888) 560-6672 or visit media.mitsubishicars.com.

i know that there are a handful of folks out there that have made the change. so far, it seems that no one really regrets it at all.

if anyone is curious, my current car is a gg evo 9 mr with appearance pack, robispec clubsports, vishnu diffuser, 330whp on a mustang dyno. the car is plenty capable. but i have to choose one, and the stupid AYC is singing its siren song.

is there nothing that compels former 8/9 guys to go back?
Do you think it's possible that your memory may have faded a bit?
