...end of Mitsubishi?
All, no they will have to service vehicles through warranty periods.
I have mentioned before, there was 3 Mitsubishi dealers within 20 miles of here. None of them were affiliated and all three were absolutely pitiful. From sales to parts and service. The mindset was basically that nobody could give two ****s.
Couple years later, all three dealers have been boarded up. All three had massive inventory when they were shut down.
Again they've done it to themselves. Good riddance.

Nothings happened yet. Mitsubishi's Motors CEO keeps insisting they're in the US for the long haul and they're doing fine in developing markets like India. Even if they do exit the US market its not like they're bankrupt like Saab. They'll still honor warranties at dealerships that stay open (and many are multiple brands so its not like they'd close over losing Mitsu). The nearest one to me also sells Kia, so they're doing great.
when i bought my first MITSUBISHI in 2003 there were five dealerships in my county. when i bought another in 2005, there were four dealerships. when i bought another in 2007, there were three. i haven't bought another MITSUBISHI since then, but to date there are only two dealerships left in the whole county. seems like over the last decade they've been downsizing a bit, at least around me.
I can't believe how harsh some of you are.... yeah they messed up, but it's not like the mainstream guys will build us what we want.... They only give us 2WD performance.
Mitsu may have messed up... mostly with advertising and marketing if you ask me, but they should still get some praise for building the most serious out-of-box car in the price bracket.
Marketing would fix a lot of their problems. They don't really market where people are looking. Evo's are word of mouth and not advertised sales. I've never once seen an Evo in a Mitsu commercial that I can think of. Advertise some of the capabilities of SAWC beyond a name. Show how it's really better. They have the better product if you ask me, they just don't market it.
Unfortunately an okay-conservative product with mass marketing will win over a niche serious product with no marketing. And that is reality today.

Mitsubishi really only offers the Galant, Lancer and Outlanders (but who wants those?), I think they've been downsizing their US fleet for some time now... This really shouldn't be that big of a surprise.
but within the outlander tree, you have the outlander sport as well as the outlander gt, which my mum has, i like to call it the evolander >:]
and in the lancer tree, you have the lancer, the lancer SE (w/ awd), the ralliart, and the evo
I can't say I'd be surprised if the company went belly-up. When the interior of your entry level Lancer and your halo car (EVO X MR) are indistinguishable to the average consumer you are probably doing something wrong. Especially in regards to the entry level Lancers, people are getting so much more for about the same price when cross shopping with other import and domestic brands.
For gods sake my T.V in my den area is Mitsubishi. Look up at an ac unit Mitsubishi electric. Mitsubishi's been making planes electronics and such since WWII. The company going under I think not. Falling behind other car manufacturers in sales and reviews 100% possible. In stock market terms, constant ups and downs making money then not making money. Any half educated person would realize no company can be on top forever technology is always advancing and new ideas are brought up. Just in case of extinction, all hail the evolution
I have worked at a Mitsubishi dealer for the last 20 years! I remember selling over 300 cars a month! Now we are lucky to sell 20
We got a couple of those Miev cars a few months they sat and sat! ONE person came to look at it (so I am told) last week we sent them to a wholesaler since we couldn't sell them! Sad to see most of the dealers that I knew are all closed up
Mitsubishi (and all other car manufacturers) only have to produce parts to keep the car on the road for 7 years! but if they do go belly up you are on your own searching for parts

or if mitsu does pull out of North America no more warranty!
In the case of Suzuki leaving they're still honoring warranties and supplying parts at shops that remain open (most are multiple brand dealers). I would imagine Mitsubishi would do the same "if" they leave. You might have to drive a bit to find such a facility though (my nearest dealer is about 65 miles from me!).
Galant is comfy and drives great, gets good gas mpg and looks awesome in the SE trim with 18in wheels with rave red.
Ive driven the Outlander and Outlander Sport, both very fun SUV`s...
Dont be so negative, Mitsubishi isnt going anywhere and the Mirage is comming to N.America soon. Even Suzuki (a much smaller company) has agreed to honor warranties and parts network for years to come.

You may want to see an Othamologist for some glasses or a brain surgeon for a transplant.
