Their MR comes with 300+hp something and the MR we'll be getting here in US has only 276hp? And it's gonna cost around 35k? That's a ripped off. You're paying for the 6 speed features?

At UK exchange rates, the MR FQ-340 runs close to $60,000 - Is the US version still a rip-off? For the extra $25,000 you could make your MR run circles around 99.9% of the cars on this planet.

Also, can't wait to see all the magazines start doing comparisons between the MR and the STi.

And with that conclusion, most UK mags/shows end like this like this: "if you want to go fast, pick the Evo. if you want something fun, choose the Impreza."

[/QUOTE

BTW, the 05 USDM STI has yaw control as well.

I guess we'll see if the STi's new yaw control is as nearly effective as Mitsu's AYC. Their DCCD, though active, didn't seem to do much in terms of increasing the handling abilities of the car.

I can safely say the AYC takes no fun away from the driving experience in the MR. The thing simply flies around every corner at seemingly any speed you wish. There is still progressive sliding when desired, but you must remember not to lift off completely, or the AYC disengages, and you and your car find the nearest hedge/wall/person (not done that bit yet...fingers crossed I won't).

A good thing about the MR over the VIII (uk and jdm) is that the AYC runs in conjunction with the ABS, whereas before it turned off when the ABS was engaged, which could be scary.

Mitsubishi may have given the press (and of course potenial customers) a sneak peak of what's new for 2005, but I think that several things on the list will be changed when the 2005 models appear on dealer lots.

The UK does NOT get the true JDM Spec-C so whatever Imprezas they're reviewing on there are not the real deal. Check out Best Motoring Intl for good Evo vs STi comparisons.

Don't know why just do. They have always been favorable toward the sti. In a newer test video, the mr 320 easily beat out the wrx sti wr1. They had to admit that.
That's because in almost every head to head review of the two cars they decide that the STi is a better daily driver. Try to find a review that says the opposite There was an episode of "Fifth Gear" on US TV a couple days ago where they compared an FQ300 (or 330?) vs a Ver7 STi with the Prodrive package. They said the Evo was 2 seconds a lap quicker but that the STi was what they'd rather drive around all the time. Pretty standard really. Plus the Prodrive packages aren't that great. They are VERY upfront about the STi usually getting slower lap times (as proven by the WR1).

BTW, the WR1 sucks! It's pretty, but other than some more HP and some bigger wheels (probably worse overall) it's not all that great.

The DCCD is pretty effective in "auto" mode. That's why you don't feel a huge difference when you fiddle with it.

I'm actually talking about the grey imported ones they have. Who would want an UK version subaru? No twin scroll and 2L

I'm a huge best motoring fan. Just check out the new Evo MR vs Spec-c and 555 special editions STi hybred a couple of weeks ago.

I doubt that it will be much less raw or involving. More composed doesn't necessarily mean less involving. I would guess that this reviewer also doesn't think that the earlier EVOs were the best driver's cars either. I love Evos and while my Porsche is taking forever in the shop getting upgrades, I sometimes wonder if I would have been happier with a stock EVO that I could drive everyday and track every weekend. However, I see where this reviewer is coming from. The Evo fills a perfect role for those who want a streetable car that can hold five, but doesn't give many compromises to comfort. These are very honed performance cars and so they perform very well on the track and they are safer on the road due to AWD. But the perfect driver's car is actually a little bit dangerous. Driver's cars don't have AWD. This is why most would consider an Elise or a Porsche GT3 to be a much better driver's car than an EVO. This reviewer, as well as many track drivers, don't want all the differentials and gadgetry working to claw the car out of a corner. They want to control this themselves through the rear wheels. Cars like the Elise and GT3 force you to become a better driver, the Evo doesn't do this to the same degree.

EVO magazine has tested a Spec-C. According to them, that thing was pure and raw. They rated it higher than the Evo FQ-300 (as they should have).
