Wait

Thats weird as hell, the JDM one has black wings, I just looked at my Motor Trend and the red one has a red wing. Maybe because this is an exclusive MR color, it has the black wing? who knows.

Look at the evo on that, Black wing. Maybe the Titanium evo is the only one to get the jdm black wing.

Yes, and the FQ400 is only 45,000 british pounds which equates to about $85,000 U.S. Are you serious? You can't even compare it to a U.S. MR for about $35k.

That is correct, Mitsubishi has already confirmed this.

I think that car is BEAUTIFUL!! Does anyone know what the sticker really is. That link a few posts ago says 33k is that really what it is going to be. Also does anyone know if Mitsu is going to release these parts, so we can exchange, install and still keep the warranty cool?

The FQ400 does not equate to $85K US. The UK has 98 Ron at the pumps also.

As I have written before:

You can't use the exchange rate for converting English car prices. They get hosed.

Example:

Ford FocusSVT $19,375 in US the same car is called the ST170 in the UK is £16,500 or US$30,098 @ £1.82418=$1 (8/18/04)

The UK MR FQ-340 is £32,990 On The Road using the ratio 19375/16500 gives US$ 38,738.

An M3 is £41,150 or US$ 75,055 from the exchange rate or $48,320 by ratio. The US base is $47,100.

Some have called this GAP pricing. Named after the GAP clothing store. They seem to just convert prices directly from dollars to pounds. $20 sweater = a £20 sweater. Forgetting that $1 = £.55

By my slightly out of date calcs the value of a UK Fq400 in US dollars is $52,840.

i used the currency exchange calculator and it came up 81K and some change so i think your off alittle. by the way an FQ-340 runs 62K so there is no way a FQ-400 would be less.

Thanks for the awesome pics. I can't wait to see one in person.

Jason,

Re-read his post. He is not saying your conversion is incorrect. He is saying that trying to equate the converted price to the possible cost of such a car in the US is not a valid comparison. Using his example, the FQ400 would more likely sell for $45-50k here not the $81k you quoted, even though that is the correct conversion of the cost of the car in UK.

Another way to think of it is, you would pay $81k US in the UK for the car, but not here in the US based on the way manufacturers determine pricing for a country.

I may however be reading both of your posts wrong.

Thanks Eric for doing the calculation correction for me, I was guessing at the conversion, but my point is that it is still a considerable amount more than a U. S. Evo. That's still almost 18K more in mods. Imagine what you could do with that extra cash on your personal Evo?!

Oh hell yeah. Plus those mods are meant for 98 RON which would only be available in the eastern US.
