Who's buying an EVO IX?

I was curious of who was getting rid of there EVO VIII to get into a IX, or even who is getting a IX as there first? I plan on getting an EVO this time next year after having a little more time with my Explorer and I have contemplated buying brand new, that way I won't have to worry about how it has been treated, 0 miles is nice to have however being 20 years old I would need to get an RS to save some cash, I feel I could always add some other things to it later. What are a few reasons why the EVO IX is better and in what ways?

I would like to get a used VIII with between 20-30k miles on it and finance alot less, having a couple thousand down or so on a 03 or 04. I was told that if I were to get new the interest would be alot better, probobly 3.9% range, I have a 687 credit score now at age 19 so I am hoping with a full year of flawless on time payments with my Explorer I will be able to get into an EVO new or used with no problem... I just don't know what route to take... I would like to keep my payment under $450 per month which leaves me wondering if I were to get a brand new RS if I could finance it over a 66 mo term and lower the payment, the same sense the interest wouldn't beat me up so bad. What do you think? I am just doing my homework WAY ahead of time to be prepared haha. Knowledge is power. Thanks for the help

well if the Evo 9 is close enough to the JDM spec unit, then I'll buy one and give my 03 to the wife (she's been begging me to do this). I don't expect the AYC, but I'm hoping that everything else remains untouched for our market. I'm a little nervous about the rear bumper being changed or them just keeping the current evos backside to meet our crash regulations. We shall see.

The EVO IX RS in the Japanese pics had no rims, they had the same thing the cheap cheap base model Honda Element had for rims, it looked SO gross and they have no recaro's... They really made this car naked this time, the first one was not bad... but depending on the release of the US EVO IX RS I may need to buy used.

yeah I saw that. All of the japanese RS models come with rally style wheels since I believe the evo V. Not sure why they have those crappy seats though. I seriously doubt that our RS will be like that (if that model even makes it here)

If I get tired of my 03 i might get one when they have been released for a year or 2 depending on if I have money or not.

not to judge since I don't know you or your situation, but you should realize that your insurance will probably cost $300 or more depending on your record. $800-900 is a lot of money for a 19 year old, plus regular maintenance is mandatory for this car and the tires alone will run over $2400 every 10-25k miles (depending on how hard you drive). Again I'm not saying that you can't do it, I'm just trying to help you realize the costs involved with this car.

I will be getting whatever evo is avaliable in 05 around september after I save up money from when I graduate and get a real job....

i second the idea if it remain's mostly JDM style, and defenitely black seats and better interior then why the hell not???

SirAragorn Mar 9, 2005 01:40 PM

i pray that mitsu decides to give us the JDM recaros. You can just tell by looking at them how much more supportive they are. I'll bet we get the same seats from the us 8.

/\ Because us americans are a bunch of fat as*es. I'll have to see one in person before I make that call. It just doesn't seem different enough for me. The Mivec is the only thing that is interesting to me.

Thats because its mainly circuit/rally guys that buy this model, they strip the interior and put a single race seat in (something far more supportive then the factory recaro's even though they do a pretty good job in the first place) chuck rally rims or ultra lightweight race wheels on and all sorts of other hardcore modifications, why pay for stuff your not even going to use (seats, rims etc etc)?

Ralliartboy Mar 9, 2005 03:05 PM

im trading in my RalliArt once it comes out...when is it supposed to be released? next year?

mike69 Mar 9, 2005 04:45 PM

For me it depends on what improvements will see us and how much it will cost. Until the NY Auto Show there is no way to really decide.

How come the Evolution VI RS came with ****ty wheels?

They don't look rally inspired to me :dunno:
