Question UTEC and 05 models?

How does UTEC work with 05 models?
Is the ECU significantly different than 03 because of ACD addition?

Crazy things are going through my mind, I'm thinking about trading in for an 05 RS because of the front diff If the price difference turns out to be too big though, Quaife might just be a better solution.

Yeah the Quaife is a better choice.. Even though I think the ACD is cool, I suspect there will be tons of people very shortly complaining about broken center diffs, or pump failures the way americans drive I suspect some new owners will just break these expensive parts.

Anyway, There are several wiring additions but they appear to be in locations not relevent to UTEC operation.. HOWEVER I am not aware of how the UTEC passes the data through it (if its direct or whatnot, and how that affects things)

Also, I noticed a blurb about DUAL boost control solenoids on the new cars.. I have not seen a new car yet though so I don't know what that means. But either that means that there are two solenoids wired to the same connection, or it has two solenoids that have different bleed rates and are controlled seperately.. if thats the case, everyone who controls boost and other features will have a little work to do.

Personally although I'm glad more of the "JDM" features are showing up in the newer cars, I don't think those features are a "Worthwhile" upgrade for me (or most 03 owners) since the desirable things are things I can already do.

Also, people are forgetting that the new cars have that data aquisition device required (OBD-III?) Although I'm sure people will find ways of erasing the data, the data captured can be used to void your warranties since our cars ARE capable of detecting G's (If you've taken the center console apart, there are two G sensors under the rear portion of the console under the I/C spray) Those sensors are used for the EBD system and probably are integrated into some of the new electronics.

Just some food for thought..

Yeah, I did some more research and I decided I don't want to lose the ABS. For ideal weather I could live without it but in anything other than that I want it.
The difference in price to add all the stuff (power windows and ABS) would be too much w/ loss on trade-in.

so umm.. any updates on whether the UTEC works on the '05 evo's? it's getting around to the time that i plan on getting some sort of ECU modification system and i'd really like to use the UTEC, but TXS isn't replying to my emails and TurboTrix isn't sure and told me to talk to TXS.

OKay well I spoke to a Rep from Turbo XS and I got some info about the UTEC. Well you will be able to keep the ACD function since the UTEC just plugs into the factory ECU. The UTEC will not affect the ACD at all. I also found out that they will be releasing a update the software so you can eliminate the MAF sensor. So for those of you who want to run big power like 600whp like my buddy did then UTEC is the ideal purchase for engine management. The cost of UTEC is alot more affordable then lets say AEM not knocking AEM. Veryy good product. But for a person like me who drives this car everyday about 45 miles per day i would like to have a standalone that I don't need to tune everyday.

Yep.. but the speed density setup has been "Upcoming" for quite some time so don't expect it to be released for awhile.

You are correct, the ACD ECU is not part of the Engine ECU, there are other things that are slightly different.. But if they said it will work, then it should work.
