utec question
hi all,
I am needing a management system to utilize a water injection system on my car.
The water will allow me to get a better afr when the car is under hard boost levels. Maybe holding timing up a bit too. These points might be catastrophic if the water system were to fail.
The easiest question would be, has anyone gone this route with the UTEC and been satisfied with the safety issues? otherwise the question in general would be;
Can it interpret air temperature in the intake pipe? a. could it trigger a different map if it saw hotter temps? Does it use the stock knock detection? Is the knock reading a simple count or can the utec interpret the incidence where it happened, i.e. high engine load or low load?
The water system can send some signals if it sees a water failure but a view from within the engine as a backup would be beneficial.
thanks, and sorry if this has been hashed over before.

I haven't looked at my settings recently, but there is an enrichment feature, I am fairly certain its based on coolant and not intake air temp (Its determined by the temp in the MAF sensor anyway, and not in after the intercooler)
Here is what I did with a water injection system I'm designing for my car..
Its basically a variable injection system that starts at 16psi, and increases volume using a controller similar to an auxiliary injector controller. (Its like the aquamist controller but its by a different company) my system measures fluid level, and pressure when the pump is activated, if the pressure is too low, or the fluid level is low, it interrupts the circuit for the boost control solenoid and the boost cannot go above 16psi..
Thats about as optimistic as the setup gets.. If you lose pressure or level at high boost, it will drop the boost pretty quickly, but any system will be at risk in that situation.
This design works on any setup, since it has no interraction with the ECU other than interrupting the factory boost control solenoid, which as a side effect immediately triggers a check engine light.
My unit is not done yet, but this was the feature set I was targetting (and so far I have everything working except its not currently mounted in the car until I can get the fluid level sensor and interrupt relay working right.. and the fluid level sensor installed in the stock water bottle)
No, I don't intend to sell this unit, I started building this before buschur came out with theirs, which is almost identical except for the interrupt relay..
