Tuning Order?
Tuning Order?
I have been thinking and alot of people tune differently and wanted to see how my tuning procedure matched other peopled so here is how I tune. This is only a basic list it does change and alot of the time I have to go back and adjust a step I already went through.
1. adjust boost to the level I want.
2. adjust fuel to optimal AFR
3. adjust timing until I cannot feel an increase or until knock (if knock back off a couple points for safety)
Repeat until I am comfortable with my tune.
Now your turn

I was under the impression that one should lower the boost and get all the AFR and timing sorted out first, then raise the boost, instead of tuning for X boost. One of the tuners on the board does this, Shiv I think.
Yeah you would have to retune after changing boost levels but it will be safer to tune on low boost the move up.
I start very rich so I am not worried about tuning on high boost.

i set the boost. I copy a timing log from a map-0 log. Thats my timing starting point. Set my AFR's. Then add 1 degree across the board. Then another. Then another except peak torque areas. This works for me, however i never run less than 100 cool blue and 106 Trick most the time.....My car is a weekend warrior..... remember, higher octane is a safty net against mistakes, but if your tuning for a specific fuel, it defeats the purpose... Tuning for 91 and running 93 seems more like a logical safty net.

I recommend if you are going to get tuned or tune. You should use the gas you are going to run. It's a Scientific Test Procedure you need to create an as accurate to the conditions you will run in as possible.
If you really want to be conservative, you can use lower octane than you will normally run then use the higher octane on a normal basis.
