Turbo Guide

Can someone please start a list of companies, listings and what the hell turbo names mean, like a GT35 could be a GT3540....what does the 40 stand for? There has to be some sort of explanations and how it relates to compressor maps or "rules of thumb". Im going nuts......no, really.

... usually the bigger the number = more power but more lag.

gt28 is much smaller than gt35 however it spools much faster.

www.turbobygarrett.com I think is the website. They have a list of thier GT Turbos and compressor maps and thier theoretical output. I have a GT35R and it spools fully at around 4.5k or so on pump gas with a crappy tune compared to the stocker which spools around 3.25 or so.

All companies use different number schemes and none relate. A 20g turbo is much bigger than a T25. Most people switch to Garrett turbos so just look at those at first. HKS numbers are pretty much the same as Garrett ones I believe. Forced Performance for Evo's also use Garrett numbers. Mitsu has thier own. Hope that helped. Go to Garrett's website, it explains it all pretty well and lets you look at compressor maps.
