knocking on safc over 100 at wot?
knocking on safc over 100 at wot?
i have all my setting at 0.
now with - 2% across the board at 3000 rpm, I've seen the knock sensor reading a bit high.
116.
is this normal?
usually at 0% setting they're fairely low at about 80 or 60.

Knock readings on the AFC-II are not to be trusted. To be cetain of knock, beg, barrow, or steal a logger and look at the timing curve. Flat spots and pulled timing on a WOT pull indicate knock.
Hi,
My knock readings went up after cams, but I think it's that the valvetrain is a little louder. It doesn't necessarily pick up only knock, but also extraneous sounds.
Like stated, you should get a logger. I need to do that too, heh.
But, if you do look at the SAFCII readings, did you calibrate the knock readings? You let the car really warm up, go for a nice spirited drive. Then in KnK settings you hold the throttle at ~1500 rpm and set the low reading, then at ~3500 and set the higher reading. The SAFCII will extrapolate and set this as a baseline for knock counts. The reading for the higher rpm should be a little higher. You should be in neutral, since the car shouldn't knock in idle. This will let the SAFCII filter the amount of "regular" noise so it should be more sensitive to what may be actual knock.
Once calibrated, you should only see readings <50 or so peak. Well that's how my car works, every car is probably different. Others post that they always show 0 knock, so it's best to get a logger to be sure.
Thoughts or corrections?

i set the throttle setting at 0-lo and 65%-hi. Ever since that my knock setting stays at 0 to 14 at most on not wot.
on wot, it still goes up to 110, at redline shifting.
i don't know, maybe it's something else...
I did set it with -2% correction from 3600 rpm to 7200 rpm and i was getting a lot more knock reading, at 130 or so.
maybe one of my pistons blown or something.

Hey man,
Did you calibrate the knock setting, not the throttle setting, that's separate.
In settings, there is a knock option. You hold the rpm at ~1500, then hit the toggle to get a reading. Then toggle down to the other reading, hold the rpm at ~3500 and toggle again. 3500 should have a higher reading than 1500, the SAFCII will use this to help filter out extraneous noise.
Make sure the car is really warmed up. If you do this, you shouldn't see readings most of the time. This is assuming you aren't really knocking, but again, generally the readings aren't that accurate. A logger would be better.
Good luck,

I see 2-10 knock counts sometimes at idle. When driving or WOT, no knock at all. Not even once. I only followed the directions it came from about doing the 1500 and 3500 rpm thing. I don't depend on the SAFCII for knock counts though.
u guess it's one of those useless features on safc...
yeh, i set my knock setting, i don't know how you could really sitting around, since you're not in boost when you set it sitting in the parking lot.
