Stage 1(TBE) map stalling?

Hello folks,

I was hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have been running the stage 0 map and have been having no problems. Right when I load up stage 1 map, the car doesnt idle and stalls. The car dies again when you give it gas and stalls when it tries to boost. I have TBE and was wondering what is wrong? I dont have the ABC valve installed yet but should that be why? Stage 0, the car runs fine but on stage 1, it just goes all crappy. I thoought stage 1 can be ran safely.

Thanks in advance!

Alfred

All i can think of is that open loop fuelling was not enabled for the stage 1 map.

Try re-downloading the map into the UTEC.

It does sound like your trying to use an OLF Stage 1 map, on an earlier firmware (pre v1.7) version of the UTEC, or you have Open loop Fueling disabled...

Only the OLF map has all 0's in the fuel map, which in theory should just pass through the ECU value without offsetting it on a non OLF UTEC...

Several things to do..

1) Reflash the UTEC with the newest firmware, and make sure the program switch is set back to run after its done

2) Reload the stage 1 map

This should force all the defaults back.. If you purchased your UTEC used, its possible there's a bunch of settings that are no longer default, reflashing the firmware will reset all the defaults.

start the car while its running poorly and log some data.. see if the MAF reading at idle looks correct (MAF and MOD MAF) and timing.. Also look at the TPS setting and make sure its registering correctly.. take a look at the UTEC dash in the lower right corner and see what the injector settings say (550/550 or 560/560) make sure its default..

Since you provided no information on whether you aquired the UTEC new or used, I can't say for sure that its just not a bunch of configuration settings, or possibly something wrong.

FWIW when I was beta testing firmware, I had a similar problem with one of the betas.. so we need more info.. firmware version, specific mods (I know you said the car is only a TBE), how you aquired the UTEC, also if your car has ever been reflashed (that your aware of), if you purchased the car used, it might already be flashed and your not aware of it.... etc..

Oh, and dont worry about the ABC until you get this resolved.. the ABC will only help you raise the boost higher than the stock 19-21psi with the stage1 map, you'll notice your boost is lower (about 17psi) without the ABC installed, but that is the only thing that you should see.. None of this can be attributed to the ABC not being installed.

You are the man! Got it solved. Reflashed the UTEC and reinstalled both maps. That car runs on both now. Thanks again for all your help. BTW I did get it used.

Also, I thought the ABC valve allowed you to raise the boost about 20psi. With out the valve, shouldnt the stock solenoid still be able to hold 19psi to redline? Or does it taper to 17psi?

Thanks again!

It should hold the boost, but with the maps as they sit, the solenoid duty is set for 75% (I think) which means it will run at about 17psi unless you change it... If the map was edited to say 100% then it will run around 19psi through redline (probably spike slightly then drop to around 19psi.)
