Dynoflashed + UTEC = ?

Has anyone here been dynoflashed by Al and then gone to the utec after that? Any problems encountered?

Hey Abner,

The only person that I know that has Utec plus Dynoflash custom tunning is Ray and you already know him..

I personally would not have an Utec plus a Dynoflash unless you are planning on having multiple maps and driving conditions.

It works but you're spending too much money to have both. Also you need to be careful when tuning because your base map is different than stock ECU.

Hey carlos, Al's flash is way too conservative + the ****ty 91 octane that we have here. The utec will go in with water injection and i'm hoping to lean it out a lot more and also get more timing advancement. So basically, i'll have 2 maps, map 0 and map 1 (91 + water)

Hi SoR, base map = map 0 on the utec? Could I use the stock ecu map which Al has put on the ecu and improve it? Or should I have it sent back to him and flashed back to the original stock map?

Send it back to be flashed to stock. That is what I am doing. It is easier to tune of a known rather than an unknown value.

Yes, you can use map0 for the dynoflash, there's some issues getting a UTEC to work correctly with a reflash, its not that it can't be done, but it has to do with base fuel compensation, transition from closed loop to open loop... You will need to tune everything, including part throttle drivability since a reflash does alter some base parameters that can affect that. Same thing with Injector scaling and other compensations that will take a bit of very careful trial and error to work out. Its recommended to reflash to stock, but its not 100% necessary if you take everything one step at a time. I do know that it can be difficult and time consuming though.

Oh, and in Open loop fueling, your actually taking over for the ECU, so it basically ignores the reflash at that point.. But you do need to be aware that its there.

I had a flash also, just go to the dealer and ask for the P0300 reflash, I guess there is a new version of the reflash out.

I also have Dynoflash, and I'm thinking about getting UTEC and have Harman Motive do the tuning on top of it.
