Just got my UTEC today with remote switch...

And I must say.. the remote switch is somewhat cheesy looking... Is there any known problems if someone was to buy a different type of switch and change it? Has anyone done this? If so, what switches have been seen to work?

Thanks!

I used a BCD rotary encoder, which I switched back to the old switch when I had trouble telling what "Number map" I was on, but there aren't many switches out there designed to do that.. Basically anything that can do 0-9 in binary (In actuality 0-7)

I agree that the switch is a cheapo unit. I added an LED so that I could at least see it at night.

I was pondering making a digital electronic one with an LED display that showed the MAP number, I had the encoder chip, and the single segment digital decoder chip, and two membrane switches, but I became stumped on how to retain the map setting when the power went off, so it would always start at 0 when power was interrupted. I was unable to find a encoder chip that had a flash state (retained its last state when power was off)
