TunerPro/EGT Question
TunerPro/EGT Question
I bit the bullet and bought the Pro to get EGT's in the log. I've read some guys think that EGT's are pointless but I kind of doubt that point of view. A pilot friend of mine said that they (at least used to) use AFR and EGT readings all the time.
But Here is my Question
I got the TurboXS EGT Type K Thermal Coupler which I am guessing is pretty standard. So I am wondering if I can't plug it in to an actual EGT guage when not using it to log temps in the Pro, I know that an adaptor would probably be necessary, as well as some calibration for the gauge.
Anybody have any knowledge or experience with this? (this is where I hope Jack gets interested and throws in his 2 cents :-)
But thanks for any help (from anyone)

Yeah, most type-k probes are the same, not sure if their calibrated the same, but they sure as hell looked identical to the Autometer probe.. So I don't see why you couldn't try it to see.. It won't hurt anything, just not read correctly.
We wish.
Since I believe that the UCC display pulls it's info from the underlying Utec software, I think that the UCC is subject to the Utec's software limitations. (please correct me if I am wrong about that. It would be great news.)
Tuner Pro will show the EGT with the AFR in the "Tuner's" screen. The Pro will log AFR's and EGT's to it's own logger, but only the AFR's are piped over to the Utec's logs and show up on the far right side of the main logger.
I don't have mine yet so I'm only going from what I have read and been told by TurboXS
If you download the Pro's manual from TurboXS, you'll be able to see the different views that the Pro gives as well as how it works with the Utec.

How can you log with different serial ports since you log UTEC stuff *through* tuner.
Unless you unplug utec from tuner and then log separately but then you won't see rpms, timing, tps etc etc so 2 logs would pretty much be useless.
We need the EGT column passed on to UTEC. I've been b1t<hing about this for a year now.

I have my TunerPro wired into a jump harness in addition to the passthrough.. This way when I log with the tuner pro I get the essential tuning data I need.. however I just basically use two serial ports and log at the same time both units (like the MPS software but I use my own tool)
