Questions about MAP sensor

I installed the GM map sensor a few days ago. I planned on using if for logging purposes but I noticed a few options in UTEC which can use it. What are the benefits of using MAP instead of MAF to determine load? Also instead of using the MAP sensor that came with my alky kit can I use UTEC now to activate the solenoid?

You cannot use the GM MAP to trigger the Alky kit. IF you alrady have a tune based on MAF for load reference you would have to start from scratch if you go to MAP. For me the advantage was mainly for logging boost.

there is a spare solenoid that can be triggered by the utec; might have to use a relay as i think the output is limited to 1A or so........

Yep, but the conditions to trigger the spare solenoid output are currently not robust enough to use it to trigger the Alky..

The new WRX firmware can actually use one of the maps to drive the spare solenoid output, which could be used for an alky kit.. but there's no info on whether this will become available for the Evo firmware. This is unrelated to using the MAP sensor though..

I personally found the map sensor on my car's best use was for logging (as Evo-Tech stated) and closed loop boost control.. I chose not to use the map sensor for anything tuning related simply because the MAF settings were much superior if your not havin difficulty tuning with the MAF.

I see that you are running an Xede, so this may not apply to you, but how do you/can you use the voltage to boost to calibrate the Gradient/Intercept numbers?
