Not running right after k&n intake

I installed a K&N typhon intake on my 05 viii ad a greddy rs bov and for some reason it seems not to have that sudden surge of power whenthe turbo builds boost. I checked everything seems to be hooked up back correctly and no signs of leaks. Any pointer would help

Typhoon is TOTAL CRAP!!!!!! I bought it before reading about it all over this site and my evo ran terrible!!!!! Do what I did and take it off the car put it in your backyard and blow it up!!!!... Go directly to an evo website and buy a HKS RS intake!!! You will be soo happy!!! Your car will love you long time!!!!

Seriously do a search on this website you will find about a hundred posts with your exact same problem... Ditch the K&N... good for domestics... not for imports.

It seemed as though this intake put down the most horsepower, that is why I purchased this one

You will need a re-tune with this intake. It really screws up the MAF readings. There is a thread on the Dynoflash forum regarding this. It took a complete custom tune to resolve the issues.

Read the posts... everyone is having issues with this one... just an all around bad design. I mean hell... K&N even blocked off a huge section of the pipe with a metal plate!!!! Restricting your air flow... I even cut out the plate in hopes that it would fix it and it did change one bit. Same thing my car would seem okay pulling out of the driveway... but the second you tried to boost in any gear high rpm's and the car sputters and backfires... Its hitting fuel cut offs and f***ing with the engine.

Yeah I believe Al @ Dynoflash can tune it now... but only as a full custom tune... because he flashed mine and it still ran crappy until I changed it out.

Hey guys I appreciate all the fast input. Huh well it seems as though I need to replace this damn thing and get something else. Well thats not what I was looking for but hey if it will resolve my problem thats what needs to be done. This seems like a awsome forum, I am a previous owner of many Vw's and including my latest the R32 and glad to see you help out each other like dubheads do. We all use Vwvortex.

Just to update you guys I actually called K&N themselves and they explained the typhoon will work only on the 03-04. They are in the process of making one for the 05 as we speak, they also stated anyone whom was sold one for there 05 evo take it back for a full refund

What K & N is telling you is BS! If you spend any time on this site, you will see that everyone has had problems with the Typhoon, only a stand alone can tune the car to run well. Dynoflash just posted a couple of days ago, he cannot tune out the screwed up MAF readings. If K & N is willing to refund your money, take it. If you still want the new product for the 05s, I'd wait until several people on this forum have tried it and see what they have to say.

Good luck
