Need help ASAP w/ SAFC II
Need help ASAP w/ SAFC II
My check engine light came on while i was f'ing with the SAFC-II. i had it installed and tuned, so i have no idea how to tune with the thing. I was trying to get it back to the readout screen and got all mixed up in the sensor selection screen. Is it possible to set the check engine light off by messing with the SAFC and if so, what are my options to get the light off until i can bring it back to the shop.

first off. Yuo should pull your code and see what it is. Autozone you can borrow a coder reader for free. Anyway here's your setting should read Karman, and also 4 cyn with the arrow from lower left pointing to upper right.

Do this:
1) Go to the Tech Guide at Evotuners.net and read the S-AFC setup or go to VFAQ.com to find it, too. Follow the setup guide to make sure all of your settings are proper.
2) After this is done, disconnect your negative battery terminal for 10 minutes, then reconnect it. The SES light should go off and not come back on. Put the key in the "ON" position before cranking it up. If the SES light doesn't come on, then crank it up and drive it around.
3) After all is well, consider getting a flash and selling the S-AFC.
So, according to you, I was supposed to get a flash because I purchased an SAFC II without knowing how to tune it.
I say keep the SAFC and learn to tune it or get it tuned by someone who knows how to tune properly.

I have a lot of buddies locally who all had flashes, but who saw what I was doing with the S-AFC and decided to buy S-AFC IIs to use on TOP of their flashes. Each of them I have helped with learning how to tune, but I'm proud to say that each of them bought their OWN pocketlogger with the intent of learning how to tune without relying on me to tune their S-AFC's for them. If YellowEvo is willing to learn how to use/tune his S-AFC, then he will be much better off than he was before. If he doesn't have the time nor desire to learn, then he'd be better off with a flash.

I just dont think there is anything wrong with having someone tune it and then learning afterwards. That's all.

The whole time I was talking about people who buy it, have it tuned, and then never touch it themselves. I've seen people like this at the track who had Buschur Stage 1-4. I'd go up to them and be like, "Hey, man, nice Evo...whatcha got? Oh, I see you have an S-AFC II. What settings are you running?" The answer is usually, "Uh, erm, I have Buschur Stage 4, but I'm not sure what's in the S-AFC. They just sent it to me like that." I proceed to show them how to get to the "settings" screen to see how much fuel is being removed at each rpm, then put it back in monitor mode. That's what I'm talking about...
