Fried ECU+?

Hi everyone. I recently recieved my ECU+ unit from another member here used. He recommended I upgrade the firmware so that I can use the full capabilities of the ECU+.

I went ahead and connected the ECU+ to the car, loaded up the firmware upgrade software. I didnt realize the car was ON and the instructions said for the car was to be on the ON position. While updating it hung and the car stalled out.

I cannot access the ECU+ anymore. In the READ ME for the firmware it states this:

Follow the above instructions *exactly*. When the flash is being
burned, if the serial cable disconnects or the laptop dies or locks
up, or the car is turned off, your head unit will be temporarily
toast, and you'll need to run the recovery procedure on it to get it
back to working condition.

I've looked everywhere on the forums and in the manual and it mentions nothing of HOW to do this recovery procedure. I see on the mainboard it says JPR7 Reset - which I would think would reset the ECU+ but do not know how to use it.

I've emailed Tom but no response yet - has anyone else experienced this or know how to bring life back to my ECU+?

HELP =(

Just for future reference, you might want to share what you ended up doing to get things working again.

Good Idea:

- Un-screw both end caps on the silver box, and slide out the circuit
board.

- Locate the jumper JP1, BOOT EN. It should have a plastic jumper hanging
off of one of the pins. Connect this jumper across the two pins.

- Re-run the BtLdrW program, but add another command line switch: "-n".
This should update the firmware.

- Put the jumper back so it's hanging off one of the JP1 pins.

- Screw your box back together.

Hope this helps anyone who'd of accidently fried there firmware upgrade temporarily!
