Standalone EMS vs. ECU Re-flash
Standalone Engine Management Systems
Now all that was left was to find the perfect conductor: “x” company’s EMS has it all, literally, figuratively, and competitively. It’s plug ‘n play, has new updates online, templates can be defined by the user/tuner, fuel table auto mapping, programmable traction control, built-in electronic boost controller, rev limiters, definable knock control, full idle control, and 2-step launch control. (Anonymous person’s) favorite is the ability to change tuning parameters by simply clicking on a previously concocted file instead of physically removing and re-installing a chip to change tuning parameters. This way, you can have a bunch of files already saved on your laptop: one tune for 87 octane, one for C16, and one for nitrous.
Can anyone give me the rundown on this? I’d just stick with getting my ECU custom reflashed by “x” distributor for “x” dollars periodically than spending somewhere around $1800-2500 or so on this product not to mention the cost of dyno time needed. Maybe I’m severely overlooking the details of this matter. I prefer to get the real deal from you all that have been doing this for a while. School the rookie at all costs!
