Nope, if anybody needs an ecutek tune and is located in the southeast goto TopSpeed, amazing quality work and cheap, 140 for an ecutek tune, half the price of the bulk of the other vendors.....What I do not understand is why/how tuners think they can charge so much for ecutek tuning when it is really no more involved/complicated than anything else....

Very true in whole!! But most tuners in PAST have said that the ecutek is

Much nicer tuning software! Not to mention the slight to moderate advantages

It has in flexibility in respect to tuning! hehe

Hence the higher than normal price! I think once the end user feature is available

It will make all the differce.

I believe AL from Dynoflash will offer an end user with his tune, witch is what I would

Call a great idea! I wish I could have been a bit more patient with what I had, but I jumped on the ecutek bandwagon! I have no regrets with the ecutek, but to you’re post! Makes you wonder!

Don't forget the initial minimum $650 license flash Sam.

After the mandatory fee, it is up to the tuner to set the pricing, not Ecutek.

Sorry I thought it was clear I was talking about a follow up/ after tuning charges, TTP and everybody that commented is correct, the 650 is flat no matter were you go, or at least should be for the cost of the tune, 140 an hour is for future/following tunes!

A real good ecuteK tuner will and can make several maps while tuning ,for the inital tune. So depending on how well you know youre tuner will make all the difference.

See if he might make you a race and street tune! aka race gas

You won't have a way to switch maps at this time though.

No youre right!! but if 2 maps are made at the intial tune and licens, you can go back to the tuner and have them plug in and switch...takes like 5 mins...

Not likely to be under 2hrs away from the closest ECUTEK tuner.

so... i bought my car evo used with 38000, it came from california. i tried to get a buddy of mine to do some basic maps, he couldn't because he said it was "locked". does this mean that my ecu was flash by ecutek? and if so, does this mean that my ecu is licensed, that i wouldn't need to pay the initial 650? also how do you determine what kind of reflash you need and or want, ... by mods?

From: its not where you at, its where you from!
I paid $650 for the ECUtek license and approx. $150 for the first 2 hours of dyno-time due to some necessary troubeshooting (loosing power due to crappy HKS SSQ BOV)...now, I pay for dyno-time ONLY on any reflash and/or tuning. My tuner does not charge for further adjustments/tuning....

Dyno-COMP FTW!
