help?

Alright. I didn't do as much research as needed, but I put a 264 exhaust cam into my Evo IX with a new cam gear set to -3 degrees. No flash. Right now I just have a Blitz blow-off-valve WITHOUT recirculation adapter... soo... to my problem.

I was walked by a stock IX, a buddy of mine, to see if there is any change in performance with the cam gear/shaft... BOV for show.

I think the BOV w/o recirculation is Screwin me real bad, but what about not having a flash for the new cam and gear?

Help this noob out, plz ?

Oh, and I'll be taking the BOV soon and doing another run and seeing if there is a difference.

Well, yeah, first of all, you can't just go add a cam without a tune. Also, why would you add a 264 and do a cam gear set to -3? With 264s, you shouldn't even be touching cam gears.

Also, running a VTA BOV is just dumb. I hope you didn't buy it.

Be sure to do your research and pay attention to what works. Your IX can be fast as hell with just very very few mods, if you do the right ones. I put together a package for just this reason, but any combination of mods like in my package would put you 6 car lengths ahead of your buddy's stock IX.

Ah hah! lucky for me, the BOV was free b/c it was one of the things my friend saved from Hurricane Katrina!... He had it so he just shipped it up to me. And I'll set it back to 0 and see how I run w/o tune and w/stock waste gate.

Not a chance, Warr...cause Crazy Justin (inside joke) is about to be 6 cars ahead of any regular IX J/K!

This is his first turbo car (I had a heavily modded wrx)...so it's a learning process. So I was telling him BOV's most usually hurt performance, unless running really high boost and I was suggesting to stick with proven parts to make the car fast...i.e. "power packages".

But I understand where he's coming from too...because his plans were gonna eventually do a cam/gear swap so his reasoning is do it now...but once he gets that tune...we'll have to see what kind of monster it turns out to be...I just hope he doen't walk my Buschur stage 1 w/o cam/gear swap .

The problem is he will need a custom tune in person with that cam and cam gear (or even without the cam gear). I don't think there are any mail-in flashes available anywhere for a stock IX w/264e cam or any combination of mods with a 264e cam for that matter.

Well hey, look at this way...at least you have the parts in. And since you said you were gonna do them anyways...you're done. Just go on w/ your normal modding path.

Hopefully, the cam/gear set up wont deter you from gaining more power when you continue you your mods. The only thing is you spent a little more money to be faster...and that you will just have to live w/ it or take out the parts and sell em....you know get your money back.

Or get Al, to come up...(sigh)...not everyone was suppose to know J/K, but not really. Plus, we don't know if Al would really come.
