Any EMS is only as good as the tuner.

^ well said but there are a couple engine management choices out there that are just better left alone. ie megasquirt, it really is in the details sometimes. but ussually a good tuner thats been around for a while knows the behavior of most of the ems' choices out there

never had an issue with Autronics, whether it be PnP, SMC, SM2 or SM4...

but like everybody here is saying, the ECU is only as good as the person who is calibrating it...

fwiw, the 'hiccups' in the autronic were due to a weak sync signal, which is an issue i have only had on one evo about three years ago... aven't had any issues with this on the PnP since.

I have tuned and sold a lot of Autronics. I am a dealer for them, BUT i am also AEM EMS factory trained. I like both systems, which one do I like better? I would have to say the Autronic, with the AEM coming in close second.

there is no ETA, they will be availabel when they are ready...

i have made SM4 PnP harnesses for people who did not need to abide by GpN rules and didn't wish to wait for the introduction of the PnP ecu.

Do you know how much the PNP board goes for? Verses how much the SM4 with customer jumper harness goes for? Thanks for the help.

Ev0ikon beat me to it. I was going to say the same thing. I have blown up a lot of motors learning what I learned. And not I am very confident in tuning almost any EMS! The latest project I did was a supercharged Toyota Tacoma with a EMS called U-Tune or R4 something I have never heard of nor seen. The customer brough it to me because he said no one knows how to tune it. As long as the tuner knows what he is doing with Timing, AFR, and have a Wideband and Dyno, he can tune the car. The EMS is just a tool! An important tool.

My opinion, Bottom line it depends on if you are going to tune it or if you are going to have someone else tune it!?! If you are going to have someone else tune it, the opinion you should value is would be his. If you are going to tune it, then that would depend on which system's software you feel comfortable using and which bells and whissels you want to pay for and learn about.

Good Luck.

BTW. I have an Autronic PNP

I can say is it all comes down to the tuner. If he is familiar with the ecu, I don't see any problem with the ecu. As for the person who quoted using autronic ecu blowing up 3 motors and having endless problems, I think its tuning problem and not the ecu.
I own three ecu's:Apex'i power fc d-jendro,Motec M800 OEM and Autronic sm4 for my evo vi.The car is modified up to 900hp.My problem is which of those three units will give me the best results and no problems in installation, tuning and horsepower gain?I am really scared not to ruin this engine that costs over 15.000 pounds.Pls advice...

Find a tuner you trust too give you the results you want with a track-record too match.

Then go with the ecu of choice that he recommends.

Thanks for the advice but the problem is that my tuner specializes in APEX power fc but it does not have launch control.Do you agree with the opinion that MOTEC is the best? In cyprus seems that no-one can help on tuning.......If only i could find someone to come and help on tuning, but it seems hopeless.....

Since both Motec and Autronic are both Australian designed and built they are both the best!

Have a chat too him though, ask him if he would be comfy with a Motec or similar with launch control...

The Motec software is easier too use than the Autronic though.

Perhaps take your car somewhere else if you've spent big big money on it...another island with a tuner for motec or autronic?

I'll tune it for you if you fly me out. PM me if you are interested. You will have to rent dyno time also.
