Now pre-ordering: ECU+ for Evo IX!
Tom and I spent another exciting day doing ECU+ R&D, and it looks like we're good to go on Evo IX ECU+ production. I have to order up some wiring harnesses from Japan. Once those get here, they'll be wired up and ready to ship. Figure 1-2 weeks to get the harnesses, and another week for production.
FAQ on ECU+ for Evo IX:
Q: Does the Evo IX version of the ECU+ cost more than the Evo VIII one?
A: Yes.
Q: How come?
A: The wiring harness for the Evo IX is significantly more expensive.
Q: Will there be a wire-it-yourself version?
A: No. The denser pin configuration of the new ECU would make it difficult and error-prone to wire yourself.
Q: Will it have all the functions of the Evo VIII version?
A: Yes.
Q: Will it control the MIVEC variable intake cam?
A: Not at first, but we will eventually have a (free) software update that will enable this. That won't be any time soon, though.
Q: Are there any known "issues" with the Evo IX ECU+?
A: Yes. The infamous P0300 (random multiple misfire) code will occur, just like with the Evo VIII version. Of course, since you can easily check and clear this code now with the OBD-II-aware ECU+, this isn't as much of a burden as it used to be. This whole problem will eventually be solved, we think. It's at the top of Tom's to-do list.
Q: How do I order this?
A: Go here to our web site.
Q: Do I have to pay up-front?
A: No, we don't charge until we ship your order. But orders will be filled by first order placed. Order sooner, get your ECU+ sooner.
Q: Is Tom the man?
A: Yes, he is the man.

The harness wouldn't be re-sellable as new, so maybe a better approach would be for you to sell the harness privately (to someone who could then buy the wire-it-yourself version and save some money) and buy the EVO IX harness outright. I'm sure Dan would sell you the IX harness by itself. There's no changes to the silver box for the IX right now.
