People are selling because the updates are taking tooooooooo long. At least that is why I sold mine and went to a different ems.

I started having fine tuning issues with the more mods I put on. I have the AEM ems now and all problems solved including dropping the MAF. If you have long term high mods for you car, even if right now you are running low hp, get the AEM. If you are content with basic mods then the utec should do you fine. I had boost controller, exhaust and intake and my car ran great with utec for a year. Beyond that I had minor tuning issues. I say invest the right dollar and get some sort of stand alone. It will make your car happy with good tuning!

If your interested in the UTEC, then do your research, its a great platform and works great.

There are many reasons people sell their UTEC.. Most have nothing to do with problems, either they have grown out of them, sold the vehicle, want a change, or need to change..

I have been using a UTEC on the Evo for just about 3 years (I have one of the first units sold in the US for the Evo) In the past, the UTEC offered things you could not do with a stock ECU and any other piggybacks without getting a reflash.. Now that there is an inexpensive way to reflash an ECU, it places other piggyback products on more equal ground.. The UTEC works the best hands down for being able to directly control the injectors and timing, and it can switch maps..

There have been very few recent updates for new (and somewhat important) fixes and features, and some users are getting tired of waiting. In some cases the data logging isn't as comprehensive that some would like..

I will be moving on to a new form of engine management now that I can flash my own ECU, I now have to place a higher priority on data aquisition (Logging).

Nothing anyone can say will ever change my opinion of how good the UTEC is, and how useful and functional it is in conjunction with an unflashed stock ECU..

Well put. I moved to something new as I was stagnent with my utec. I may even be selling what I have now that the ecu flash cable/program is readily available.

BTW Jack, I was in St. James this past weekend. If I would have known you were still on the island, I would have called to finally meet you. Housing is so damn expensive up there compared to Houston. (Sorry for the )

I add your comments to a better description on my opinion with the utech. It really does has its ups to it. Would I have completed my past mods with the same intent based on technology at that time yes. Would I go with utec considering the current day technology....no.

Nothing wrong with the UTEC. It's certainly good enough that I will keep mine and stick it out. IMO, now is a great time to pick up a UTEC in excellent condition. The used prices are sure to rise after the SD update...

I may come back to it in the future, but for the time being, I need some up to date functionality.
